You’re looking at it the wrong way round. Don’t get me wrong, long-term I agree with that premise but short-term the point is that if the cost of oil goes up due to the associated tax (as you would expect to be the case) either companies take a hit on margin or they switch to cheaper...

Or, of course, you could consider that this tax is to disincentivise use of oil seeing as we want to move towards a more sustainable future. Taxing oil companies more heavily will encourage companies and industries reliant on oil to look at other more sustainable (and possibly cheaper)...

But the quandary, as has been explained previously numerous times, is that the bulk of Labour membership are Remain but their core voter base (the northern towns and districts) voted leave. Coming out one way or the other severely alienates a huge bulk of voters. I actually feel that what...

    Transfer Rumour January Transfer Rumours/Deals

His mum shouted him down for dinner half an hour ago but he just won’t leave his xbox alone.

You’re missing the point. Many still refer back to 2010 and the fact that there was no money left. Course there was money left - but it’s a lie that people bought en masse.

If that’s the case then why bother with social media marketing at all? Why have the Tories ramped up their social media spending? No one is influenced by it, after all.

Alas, no. When bed shopping last year there was a particularly irritable chap working there who was very pushy. So much so that I had a not so discreet word with him to leave me and the other half be.

‘I’m afraid there is no money.’ The letter I will regret for ever | Liam Byrne And I still see people actually claim there was no money left.

Didn’t watch last night but couldn’t sleep so watched it at 5am today. Johnson was flapping - he’s a truly horrific debater. Despicable what CCHQ did and should have the boom thrown at them.

Slight tangent, but I remember a fair few years back now Virgin brought in unlimited annual leave for a large bulk of staff and found productivity increased.

    Wolves must be asking questions

As an aside, and not saying that I’d want him back imminently due to reasons stated, could you see both him and O’Hare occupying the two advanced midfielder slots in our current formation?

    Pathetic yesterday

Indeed, but we were needing to get a train and hadn’t left enough time to walk. As it happened, we missed the train we were aiming for and also the one after. Then we went into All Bar One and missed the following one as well!

As an aside, I note London Irish are also in the European Challenge Cup. Is it really impossible for a Premiership team not to qualify for Europe?

Back at the Ricoh in January

Had a brief chat with Boddy yesterday. No truth to this rumour although that’s not to say we won’t be back this season, which he hopes is the case (and expected to be the case).

A third is a rather arbitrary figure, I’d be surprised if the percentage is in double figures in practice. Though I’d be all for DWP reform; I spent a short amount of time signing on when I left university before I got a job and the expectation is you apply for 3 jobs a week. I applied for 35 in...
