    Running

Been a while since I did a run of pure (relative) speed as I’ve been stepping my distance up week on week. After my 5km run yesterday I thought it’d be fun to see how quickly I can now do my initial run circuit, which measures in at 0.91 miles. Quickest time previously was 7:07 so wanted to...

    SHFWF - Bolton Wanderers

To be fair, I’m pretty sure their former owner Eddie Davies funded all of that and wrote off about £170m of debt before he passed away. However, I suppose you get used to the ‘lifestyle’ so to speak, which led them to carry on spending beyond their means after that.

    Five subs

My point with a concussion sub is that it would literally be the opportunity of a 4th sub if a player has suspected or confirmed concussion. Would have to have an independent doctor carry out the assessment to avoid it being open to abuse by teams. Think it’s fair to say concussion injuries are...

    Running

Just managed my first ever 5km run. 30:35 on the clock which I’m quite content with.

    England v Ireland

Flicked on at HT and saw the goal. Very tidy finish.

    Five subs

Because someone with a broken leg isn’t going to play on, whereas unfortunately players who are concussed are at greater risk of either playing on or being asked to play on.

    England v Ireland

England playing the box formation. We’re trend setters, lads.

    Things that annoy you

Sounds about right. My other half has some odd misinterpretations of English, such as “beans as” (rather than “being as”) and a fairly new revelation, “loopwarm” (and most certainly not “lukewarm”). When she said “loopwarm” for the first time I spent a good 10 minutes laughing at her.

    The Masters

Stupidly put £5 on Tony Finau only to find out he’s just recovered from Covid.

    Greg Clarke and my confusion....

Don’t know enough about the semantics of what was said and how it was deemed offensive, but I believe he may have used the phrase “colourful people”. If that’s the case, sounds a bit dodgy.

    Good listen tbf.

    Five subs

Different scenario for me. I’m all for allowing a fourth ‘concussion sub’ in certain circumstances, but I’d expect a concussion assessment to be carried out in the moment. Think it’s dangerous that things like this could happen when a team has used all 3 subs and the concussed player is all but...

    Jude Bellingham

He’s not. It just seems illogical that you’d go for a player who’s played 300 minutes of top-flight football in his life over a player who’s made 30+ PL appearances every year for the last 4-5 years (I haven’t checked those stats).

    Jude Bellingham

He was initially called up but has pulled out through injury. Bellingham’s his replacement.

    Wasps meetings with the council

Odd. Would have thought it may be linked to the training ground but that wouldn’t be of interest to CCC I wouldn’t have thought. Does that tie in with their £5m grant? Someone check the timing. Hilarious if they’ve kept no record of the content of a meeting that saw them hand out £5m.

    Jude Bellingham

The couple that jump out are Maddison and Ross Barkley, who has had a good start to the season with Villa. Beyond that, there’s an argument to include someone that’s gone through the u21 cycle like Tom Davies at Everton, or Ashley Westwood who has played every minute for Burnley so far (and yes...

    Jude Bellingham

So he’s played the equivalent of 3.5 games at a high level and now he’s in the England setup. That’s ridiculous. Nothing against the guy at all, but it infuriates me how we seemingly fast-track players so often rather than appreciating that they will need to learn. If I were in charge (which...

    Kelly

Interesting you say about staying in games longer. Certainly for the last three seasons, it’s felt very much like we tried to keep it cagey and get to HT having not conceded, then pushed on from there. Not sure that ethos is the same this season given the way the first halves have gone.

    Five subs

Leave it as it is. If Pep and Klopp are concerned about the fitness of their players, nothing stopping them sporadically resting them throughout the season and giving other players the opportunity to start, etc.
