A lower place indeed, but that kind of thing also seems a bit sinister. I'm sure most of them it's a midlife crisis determined to prove their youth and vitality but some of them I can't help think "why do they want to have the attention of the teenagers so much?"

I think you may have hit on something there. One game between the big six a week. They'll engineer the fixture to ensure they're not playing each other in the same week so they can monopolise the TV market, make their own TV deals, demand falls out of the other clubs TV revenues and the...

IMO it's like being told by a doctor there's a risk you might die imminently, or you can take this drug that will make sure you don't, but that drug will definitely kill you in a few years.

That's terrifying because it basically tells the govt they can do what the fuck they like and they won't get blamed for it.

As you say this system would be fine IF it were clear how they're making the decisions. No-one seems to be able to make it out as the cases/100k doesn't match up. Some with higher figures are in lower tiers than other with lower. It's basically a rehash of the 5 step system we had before that's...

Should standardise contracts. 50% increase if promoted, 50% decrease if relegated. Of course some of the more ridiculous PL contracts of 100k+ a week would still be unaffordable, but if you've done that then you're going to have to sell them, even a bit on the cheap. Teach you to not offer...

I've been wondering if a squad cap were put in of, say, 40 pro players could we then have a draft system like the US where any player coming out of an academy or U23 that hasn't been included in a squad is basically available to be drafted at the end of the transfer window, with the team that...

Which is where leadership comes in and having a clear, definable equation that sets the levels based on the scientific data matched to clear restrictions at each tier. We've got cases per 100k, R rate, positive test %, hospitalisations and percentage of capacity etc - all of which could be used...

Yeah it will. Just not for a long while yet and we've probably got a dark, cold and miserable winter ahead. Even if it still carries on it'll blow itself out eventually. I mean, if it killed everyone it can't infect anyone else can it.

I've been inspired to create a sketch called 'Keane as mustard' based around the exploits of DI Bobby Keane, an inspector who ignores the obvious (and eventual) perpetrator to follow unlikely or ludicrous leads. PC: Guv, I've made a breakthrough in that case of the old couple that were hacked...

I liked savoury ice creams. Yorkshire pud with a dollop of mash in the middle, sausage sticking out and red or brown sauce.

It was bad enough first time when we had the heads-up with places like Spain and italy and decided to ignore it thinking we'd just be able to gain economically from it. They put their ideology ahead of prudence with the pubic health. But it also may have been that they didn't think it was that...

So do you think all previous conduct and awarding of contracts should just be excluded from the thinking? If so, I've heard there's this guy called James who's doing a free booze cruise to games in London after the pandemic- I reckon you'd be interested. OK, some people might say he's done it...

So as I said before if I set up a company and say i can provide 1m bits of equipment i assume they'd just give me the contract wouldn't they? No time to check as it's urgent. I say I can do it now give me the money. One thing you constantly never bring up is the numerous previous examples of...

Agree with pretty much all of this. Squad caps, no hoarding of young talent, no parachute payments giving an unfair advatange to get back up and making clubs have to be more conscious of the costs of the long term contracts handed out. U21/B teams can fuck off. However I wouldn't be averse to...

One of the few things that I've enjoyed of this is the karma the PL is getting. This is their business model that shafted the football league, just this time it's them being shafted. Reap what you sow.

Given the restrictions on spending are based on revenues not profits (if they were no-one would have a budget) you'd expect the club to go for the revenue unless it was loss-making overall, which it isn't.
