Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

Surely he wouldn't dictate that kind of strategy to Joy, even if her involvement was 'hands off' at the start?

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

Even the hugely scaled-down version of Richardson's plans cost £110m to develop. Is that how much the Swansea ground cost (I genuinely don’t know, but suspect only a small fraction)? There’s a difference between a realistic stadium and a vanity project built on contaminated land. I agree (and it...

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

Interesting that, and not much sign of stupidity or a vendetta against CCFC in the Council's explanation. Could be just spin I guess, but looks more like the rent and the lease were unfortunate consequences of a grossly over-ambitious development that the club couldn't afford, and could only...

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

‘Arena 2000 started as Chairman Bryan Richardson’s dream’ ‘In a single stroke, Coventry City Football Club will be transformed into the envy of England’ ‘The Arena will be a technical marvel’ ‘Crowds of 40,000 will be able to watch football matches and other events. Another 7,000 will be housed...

Grecian 2000 is probably more what I need, despite appearances ;)

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

Wasn’t the whole project doomed to be forever burdened with debt when the development cost was drastically higher than the complex was (and is) worth? Was the initial concept of a stadium the Council’s project or CCFC’s, and whose thinking was at fault? I recall Bryan Richardson boasting that it...

Why was it a ‘silly debt’ (genuine question)?

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

Presumably they did when they were in west London, but if so a decade on an industrial estate on the other side of Wycombe about 30 miles away must surely have killed it, which explains the feeble opposition to the Coventry move. With Wasps it seems more like brand loyalty than a club rooted in...

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

Always had you down as a bit of a hedonist and a high roller, and this has just clinched it.

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

Aren’t there basically three businesses? The Arena / stadium; Coventry City Football Club; Wasps Rugby Union. The football club is never going to own the Arena, and nor is the rugby club. Wasps (rugby club) didn’t ‘steal our stadium’. One hedge fund took it from under the noses of another. Sisu...

Thanks for looking that up. Maybe we’d be a better side if we could swop Kelly’s head onto Hamer’s body? (And sneakily put the guy with Hamer’s head and Kelly’s body on the market for £5m).

If anyone on here can be bothered to do the stats, it would be interesting to see the win % with and without Kelly last season. Not an exciting or hugely eye-catching player, but does he influence games nevertheless? Of course, even if he returns his fitness is going to be questionable.

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

You do make it sound 'refreshing' and simple. But this relies on the notion of Sisu paying a mutually-agreed price for something (as opposed to exploiting a distressed business) and making an investment that would benefit other parties. Not sure the idea will appeal to them.

Well this is really cheering me up

Wasps going into admin & the impact on CCFC

I still suspect Wasps will find a way to hang around, but let’s imagine they are gone. I want to believe CCFC might gain – but how exactly, apart from a flatter pitch? The web of companies is way beyond me. Who would be calling the shots if Wasps were out of the equation? Would Sisu be looking...

    Bristol ratings/rantings

I’m not suggesting he’s a top Championship keeper, just pointing out that he’s doing a “pretty decent” job. In recent games he’s made some good saves, he’s been alert enough to come out and sweep up a few times, and got just enough of a fist on some wicked crosses into a packed 6-yard box. We...

    Bristol ratings/rantings

Can’t be arsed to go through the whole team, but Bidwell was obviously great, and surely Ben Wilson is worth a mention. If you didn’t have the benefit of the expert opinions on here, and simply watched his recent performances, you’d think he was a pretty decent keeper.

    Chris wilder

The majority of people here didn’t rate Gyokeres at all when he was on loan, with just a few of us seeing the potential and wanting to keep him. The same person who claimed ‘none of us would care if he never played for us again’ still seems to think we’d be better off selling him. Baffling...
