    Mason-Clark

This has been suggested before and I like it. Think it could very atmospheric, sung with the same participation and gusto that COH’s is. I’m in favour.

    Semi Final Dates

Used the Wealdstone FC fan park for the PO final. Very well organised and nice and straightforward to get the tube to Wembley. Hope they organise the same again for us..

    FA Cup Semi Final Draw

Out of a choice of Man City, Man U, Chelsea, am happy with that draw, and we can give them a game despite the condescension shown by Wright, Keane and especially Souness - something about him absolutely boils my p*ss. My real issue is with ITV. Their coverage of most sporting events is...

    Semi-Final tickets

Not sure I follow this logic. Is paying £15 v Oxford, any more worthy than paying £30 v Rovrum, and also paying the same for 6 or 7 games throughout the season. Seems flawed to me tbh….

    Remind me again……

Leicester third kit is yellow…. Second strip is black and sky blue, just saying….

    Semi-Final tickets

I would say 1 per STH, and then accumulated points. Can’t see any fairer way personally. 2 per STH would be ridiculous ~ No way that’s happening I hope ( and I say that as a STH )

    formation change

4411 without the ball, combined with a generally good press, 433 with it. Broke with pace and looked a threat throughout. A MR tactical masterclass today, I imagine everyone thought a back 3/wing backs and fairly deep set. But oh no!! Had GON scratching his head for the first 25 minutes.

    Missing piece of the jigsaw

Great post and whilst fun, not worth trying to compare eras in my view, as the game is vastly different then and now. I agree with the OP, I missed the rise of the club in the JH management era by a year or two, so this is a team of idols to a youngish lad at the time. Some of my best personal...

    Wolves FA cup Quarter Final

In my view: One off game, early kick off doesn’t favour either side, weather may play a part but doesn’t look too bad for now, potentially one or two key injuries for them, plus we are aiming to be competing with them within 2-3 seasons. Not saying we win but also not doom and gloom. Maybe...

Match Thread Watford FC - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 9th Mar

Agree with this. Personally I can’t see MR changing the team after we went nap on Monday, irrespective of the opponent’s performance. MVE well off it though at the moment. That said, my recent predictions have been woeful so we should all accept there’ll be wholesale changes…..

    Rotherham ratings

Difficult one to rate in some ways given the ‘strength’ of the opponent. More often than not, a thumping first half is followed by a rather tamer second and I guess tonight was similar. In terms of ratings: Collins and the back 3 put in very professional performances and I thought did their jobs...

Match Thread Coventry City - Rotherham United FC Match Thread - Tuesday 5th Mar

I’m a bit confused by the 3 at the back talk. My take is a flat back 4 with Lati at RB. Eccles and Kelly CDM’s with Wight (L) Torp (C) and Palmer (R), behind Simms. Find out soon enough. As long as it’s 3 points, we’re all happy bunnies, right….

Match Thread West Bromwich Albion - Coventry City Match Thread - Friday 1st Mar

That is just shite defending - indefensibly poor at any level of football. All half our set up out of our possession has been strange. A flat 4 sitting in front of flat back 5. At least 5 yards too deep, no pressure on the ball despite numbers, with too much space for them to play around us...

Agreed but Tthe whole team need to push forward at least 5 yards

Match Thread West Bromwich Albion - Coventry City Match Thread - Friday 1st Mar

I’m firmly in the back 4 is best camp, but based on those we have missing and the players available, back 3 can work. As others have commented, the players are better established now and more familiar with the club/expectations, so my pick will be: Collins Thomas, Kitching, Binks MVE, Torp...

    QF Draw

Good choices. Personally I’d plump for proper 1970’s version of a Garibaldi with a nice strong cup of tea to wash it down, or an Egg Custard from Gladdings…. But I know, obviously not a biscuit

    QF Draw

Fair point, but was just my take on the strengths/abilities of both sides. By way of contrast, Wolves are 10th in the home form table, Brighton are 6th, scoring more and conceding fewer. All about opinions. I think it was Twain who quoted about lies and statistics.

    QF Draw

Initial reaction is same as most, absolute shite draw. On reflection, there are no easy games at this stage of a competition and both potential opponents are currently top half premier league so will be a real test of where we are in our development. in terms of progression then it could be...
