Because they're not learning the positioning and tactics during a game. That's what they do in training and pre-season camps so that it's almost second nature by the time they get to games with crowds.

Depends on who they are and how much dosh they have. If we're talking about the current one, then I'm fine with a sensible, incremental plan to improve the squad and facilities as he's not loaded to the point of being able to just absorb losses. But if he's going to set a target of play-offs...
