Point is, I would rather spend 4-5m on 3-4 years of O'Hare than try to replace him with that sum. Clearly you wouldn't, let's agree to disagree.

As soon as you have to pay a fee that eats into your wage budget... 1m over three years is suddenly £6-7k less a week you can offer. Hence my entire point about the total cost.

No. But Cal isn't a random free agent, he has relationships with the manager, players and fans and is generally settled. That takes a lot of the risks generally associated with new signings away.

He’s got everything a full back needs. Defensive work has been impressive in recent weeks too (his pace is a massive asset at both ends of the pitch). A little bit more work on delivery and more development of the link up between him/Cal/Tatsu and he’ll be a standout player in the championship.

I’m not sure about those 5,000 or so new ST holders. Probably depends on our league finish. A good end to the season would also help, but if we finished lower than 10th I wouldn’t be surprised to see less than 50% renew.

While our attendances this year have been great, I do wonder what we’ll be getting next year.
