I expect the transfer to be completed before he's due back after his extra time off for international duty. If it gets to the point of him being due back, not sold but not at training would generate a lot of interest and speculation that the club just don't need.

My thoughts exactly. If Doug wants to hold out for some more cash, fine. But he has to show faith in his ability to realise that cash by fronting some money to get MR's targets in. No use having an extra £2-3m if all your preferred targets have now gone elsewhere.
