Match Thread Swindon v Coventry Match Thread - Saturday 6th Aug (15:00 Kick Off)

The concern about our defence is valid, but if you look at the side that won 2-0 at Oldham on the last day of the season, I'd say the team we're likely to field on Saturday is no weaker: Charles-Cook Vincelot Stephens Harries Hunt Fleck Rose Bigirimana Thomas Armstrong Lameiras

What Other Team Forums Say Thread!

There's a prediction thread on onefootballforum: http://onefootballforum.co.uk/index.php?threads/league-1-predictions.11655/ One has us to win it :woot:. Few for play-offs, few for relegation, most in the middle of nowhere it seems. Nobody has a clue basically.

    Tuesday signings

None of the team will have played together? We have lost out to other clubs, but they are mainly Championship clubs who are able to pay far higher wages. Perhaps we have aimed too high? People would probably still moan if we brought in some L2 journeymen. I look around L1 and see Sheff Utd...

Match Thread Swindon v Coventry Match Thread - Saturday 6th Aug (15:00 Kick Off)

Yeah, staggering. Our squad cannot be that threadbare if people can afford to leave Jones on the bench.

    Time is a great healer......But !

I think it's universal to a point - but perhaps the cynicism is more prevalent here. I remember a couple of sessions ago Leicester fans at work were scathing when it looked like they were going to be relegated. After seeing Leicester lose at Swansea one even said he'd never go again while...

Match Thread Swindon v Coventry Match Thread - Saturday 6th Aug (15:00 Kick Off)

Over time you will, but last season we started well and ended well, and clearly found it hard going over the winter. That's not theory, it's fact. I'm referring to Saturday as a one off game - the young players, players who might get found out over a long hard season, will at least go into...

Match Thread Swindon v Coventry Match Thread - Saturday 6th Aug (15:00 Kick Off)

Fancy a win but would take a draw all things considered. Swindon look a poor side. Our youth and inexperience might not be too much of a hindrance - it's not a wet Tuesday in February. Looks like it might be warm and sunny, pitch will be perfect, so ideally suited to teams who like to get it...

    Time is a great healer......But !

If a whole season at Sixfields and gates of 2500 didn't do the trick then nothing will. There are only about 5000 paying customers at home games as ST money is already banked. Stay away for 2 games and it'd make a dent in the finances and all they'd do is reduce the playing budget or sell a...

    TM's Video begs the question..

Wow. Some alarmist guff on here. Everyone take a breath and relax. It's one thing to be concerned about our defensive options, but writing off the season 5 days before it starts when we know they'll be new arrivals? I think we'll win Saturday, and the two home games that follow don't exactly...

    Do you remember ?

tbf, my old man came up with that. Can't remember what he had for dinner, but somehow recalls something as random this.

Is it 50 years since we've beaten them or something? Long overdue..

    Formal Planning Objection from CCFC

Indeed. I fail to see how imploring the council not to sell the stadium to the club, or supporting their stance over Higgs is wanting the club to succeed. How do they square that circle in their heads? But then, these people don't exist we're told. Incredible how naive some people can be.

    Do you remember ?

We were terrible towards the end of that season, very lucky to stay up. Three games into the following season we were top of the PL. Felt sorry for Gould, had the rug pulled from under him in January. 14th was a false position in 92/93, although I recall we dropped about 4 places in the...

    Formal Planning Objection from CCFC

There isn't really anything that we can 'do' to them. What would help is if the supporters of this club - and we number tens of thousands, were to at the very least put on a united front and speak as one. While you have people on the CT site (I accept not you personally) positively egging them...

    Formal Planning Objection from CCFC

It isn't all about you I'm afraid. The comment said 'some people'; and if you read some of the comments on the CT (much moreso than on here) it is hard to argue against that. I am sure you want the team to succeed every bit as much as I do, this isn't black and white, there are a whole range...

    Formal Planning Objection from CCFC

Oh please. You're seeing things that aren't there again. Nobody has 'blindly' defended anyone - but I don't see the value in repeating all those past mistakes ad nauseum in the misguided belief that it makes a coherent argument when addressing issues that are current - as though it somehow...

Are we all excited for the up and coming

Swindon fans not happy at the moment, seem to be of the opinion that their squad is way short of being competitive. Guess they'll bring in loans (much like us) next week, but certainly seems to be a good time to play them. Nailed on defeat then.

    Luke Norris

Yes, but it isn't 'policy', we paid cash for both Vincelot and Jones last season. It's a lack of funds and nothing to do with a strategic policy of never paying a transfer fee.
