Match Thread Coventry City - Sheffield Wednesday Match Thread - Tuesday 26th Dec

Took me a few seconds to realise you meant the play offs. Not sure that an atmosphere akin to a po is what we, want... Rather stagnant and smelly.

They are all excellent, apart from juvenillea and the plays. Brighton Rock is another recognised classic but I prefer the foreign-themed entertainments. I know Brighton; I can imagine Haiti, Lima, Saigon et alia.

    Transfer Rumour Callum Styles

Bumping old threads is not a victimless crime. Spare a thought for ccfcchris as we approach this very special time of the year. Back in August he believed he had made the definitive and closing comment about Callum Styles. He now has to face Christmas knowing that he has been usurped and...

Match Thread Sunderland - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 23rd Dec

We were quite poor for the first 25. Defended well but passing was awful; just gave it back to them immediately. Wright and Simms not holding it up when they did get the ball. Improved in the last 20 but still feel it could go either way.

    Recommend a book

I read a lot of books. These are my all time favourite novels (I read non-fiction too but those are usually depressing): * Scoop and Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh. * Atonement by Ian McEwan. Not fashionable but I also rate Saturday. * The Magus by John Fowles * I love Graham...

    Transfer targets

In an ideal world, we could look at rolling over contracts in the same way as buying a new player. We would pay £5m for Cal, so why not pay that in salary to keep him? I think the answer lies in jealousy and the unrest it would cause with other players. Squad unrest would be worse than losing...

    Sunderland Fan In Peace

It definitely happened, I was there. It was wrong. But it isn't the fans that were culpable nor the current regime. And as you write, it was a long time ago. I'm fine with Mackems not liking it, so long as it's in the pantomime spirit of football and doesn't spill over in real anger. Good...

    That sakamoto cross

I think we are missing a trick on the right hand side. With Saka and Milan we will control that side in most games. They also pull three defenders to them. But often it leads to a floated cross, headed away by defenders. We need, in my naive and unqualified opinion, to always have someone...

Great point. There will not be many sides to leave Elland Road with any compensation this season.

Match Thread Leeds United - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 16th Dec

Well played City. We have limited them to a couple of chances and had a few ourselves. The defensive unit is playing well. Simms has improved holding up the ball. Keeping the ball mostly well when we get it. Sheaf needs to stop the wobble on passing accuracy over the past 135 minutes in its...

    Are we too nice?

I hate the sly fouls; the shirt tugs, diving etc. It feels like cheating, cynical behaviour. So long as the intent is good, I prefer a mistimed honest foul. Obviously, the risk of injury is greater with the latter but at least it's honest and in a physical game, some injury is inevitable. A...

    Gyokeres Deal Details

A sell on for a 400% profit after six months is for the birds, surely? He's playing in a league no better than the championship now. If top teams didn't want him six months ago, why would they pay so much more now? This has to be agent talk and clickbait for websites.

    Ratings

Defence excellent. Midfield very good. Stikers still blowing hot air; getting better and causing consternation in the opposition defence but not there yet. Lovely to win.

Who knew Cal could score? It looks like the rest has done wonders for his composure in front of goal.

    Player Ratings v Millwall

Looked good all over the pitch. Sheaf and Eccles; Thomas and Kitching; Sakamoto and Van Ewijk forming what may become excellent partnerships. Bidwell and Allen very good. I'm sorry, I'm in the Wright-Wrong camp. He gets away with being a poor soccer player with his size and pace. There is...

Hi Samo, thank you for thinking of me. I'm fine. Just decided to avoid engaging in social media as the bickering gets me down. Take care.

Nice Plate of Fish and Chips, or Keeping 11 on the Pitch vs Forest

Thank you. All fine. I cannot think how these two are related at all. It's almost as if you were taking the piss out of a similar asinine thread.
