No I don't see him playing CDM, but presumably Eccles will be shuffled back into Sheaf's spot and Paterson can take one of the more forward thinking CM spots.
If we are planning to play him centrally it looks like a reaction to the Sheaf injury as much as anything else. I'll judge our business at the end of the window.
It depends what we do elsewhere.
If we bring in Rak Sakyi as well I'm happy with it, Paterson will just be a depth option.
If he's our only signing it's disappointing yes. But not worth throwing our toys out the pram at this stage.
