Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

I think the club were just being proactive. Seems Villa wanted rid of as many players as possible to leave before the PSR deadline so we made a move. DK has previously said he'll certainly strike a deal if it's right for the club. But I'd imagine there's a finite limit to that statement. MVE...

Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

Yes, hence the words 'it wouldn't have been much'. But regardless, Palmer moving late on in the summer would've still enabled the club to somewhat mitigate the outlay of Grimes' fee and certainly a significant proportion of his wages in January.

I would imagine Palmer's fee and wages at least contributed somewhat - albeit we only received £1m so it wouldn't have been much

I really don't but thanks for your input.

Equally, you can't spend what you don't have. The club hasn't had a significant player sale in two years. At some point outgoings are needed to free up budget to make room for others to come in. That's the cycle which the club adheres to whether you want to believe it or not.

I'd say it probably happens with most transfers now involving a decent fee, certainly those which are more high profile. Here's a recent example with Leeds and Sean Longstaff: https://www.footballfancast.com/leeds-submit-12m-bid-sign-sean-longstaff-personal-terms-agreed/

In all fairness to them bigger clubs are coming in for their key players, who will inevitably want to move onto pastures new and test themselves at a higher level, so they're probably not left with much choice. Everton are also looking closely at Cooper, which would be another big loss for them.

I don't think it's as linear as that really. There's obviously a lot of dialogue going on between multiple parties and probably a number of options tabled to try to reach some kind of solution. I think the issue is, there's not a willingness, nor should there really be, from Sporting to drop...

It's really difficult to say how Birmingham will do this season as while their recruitment has been gung-ho, it's somewhat random. As I've mentioned previously I do suspect some of their signings won't deliver the return many expect. For instance, with Gray and Kyogo, it does seem like their...

Even if I'm wrong and the latest set of accounts aren't considered within the 3 year rolling period due to a ridiculous loophole their strategy is still very rogue and based on a lot of intangibles which aren't even achievable. If they're unsuccessful in achieving promotion in the next couple...

Didn't they enter into a facility agreement with Knighthead?

From my understanding it was that equity injections could be included in turnover, loans could not. Loans are separate from equity investments.

Yes, and there's categorically no way they would've been able to adhere to those regulations given the players they still had under contract, and those which were bought in.

Player wages alone would've probably exceeded their income last season.

They changed the rules midway through last season due to Birmingham's spending spree. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c36e4068113o

I'm pretty sure this is completely wrong. Yes, transfer fees weren't included in the previous regulations therefore wouldn't have counted towards SCMP at the time. However, with a wage bill that would've inevitably dwarfed the rest of L1's by some distance, their operational losses would've...

Their strategy is concerning to be honest. The interest payment is significant and there's no real way of repaying it as it stands without coming off Birmingham's bottom line or just accruing year on year. Their idiot owner is claiming BCFC will have the biggest revenue ever of clubs which...

Not necessarily. Contracts can often be agreed with the representatives of the player first, then the buying club will place a bid.

Negotiations between Sporting / Arsenal and Gyokeres / Arsenal are indeed separate, but as mentioned the financial package from Arsenal's perspective will still be assessed as a whole - so transfer fee and add-ons + cost of wages over the course of his contract. Gyokeres' camp will know full...
