Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Not if you don't wish to explain. Up to you. Maybe you already have. No politician except an ideologue or a time traveller can keep all their pledges. Perhaps they should only make vague broad brush outlines. Don't think that would suffice.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Answer a question with a question. Okay. You are the one who needs to support the assertion that he will break his pledges. I have not suggested he will or asserted that he won't.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

As you are making this prediction, why do you believe Starmer will break his pledges? Do you think they are too ambitious, impractical? Will events make some changes inevitable? Does he have Machiavellian secret plans? Is he just insincere or incompetent?

So, what point are you making exactly?

Alternatively he has to herd cats leading the Labour party - so making pledges and then shifting when reality bites is the sign of a pragmatic person not an ideologue.

    Disabled supporters story

Like some do with Family zone tickets. Nobody suggests it should be made more difficult for families as a result. Quite the reverse, there was a long thread on here calling changes to the Family zone tickets a retrograde move. We don't do enough for disabled fans currently. I sit in a bay as a...

    Both can be true.

    Disabled supporters story

On principle I think that making large concessions to families and adults with multiple children is not matched with concessions for disabled people with complex needs. Why should parents be given access to very cheap tickets but disabled people are expected to repeatedly demonstrate they need...

https://www.theguardian.com/society/article/2024/jun/04/met-chief-says-millions-of-men-are-danger-to-women-and-girls-in-england-and-wales An inconvenient truth? A toxic culture war fringe issue which only hateful bigots bang on about?

    FA allows sex discrimination

Full of logical fallacies, non sequiturs and wild conclusions - as are most articles nowadays ;)

    FA allows sex discrimination

It means unlikely to be as knowledgeable about the issue as the authors are. True of most journalists but especially one who didn't live through the era described by Sharron Davies. A good journalist has to listen well to first hand accounts.

    FA allows sex discrimination

Although it's interesting it's all beside the point for me and a distraction. If transgender MTF becomes as weak as a kitten it matters not. Sport has sex categories. I trust the two best known British biologists, Robert Winston and Richard Dawkins, who assert that Humans cannot change sex.

    FA allows sex discrimination

Read that review. A young journalist with a bias. Perfectly acceptable but one-sided.

    FA allows sex discrimination

It's mainly anecdotal. What's Joanna Harper's claim that she is 12 per cent slower based on? Who has verified this? Where are the peer reviewed studies that these doctors are referring to when making assertions that these differences are minor? It's anecdotal which is useful, but never...

    FA allows sex discrimination

The article seems to argue that a modified biological male, who now identifies as a woman, is so nearly the same as a biological female that it matters not, let 'em play. It cherry picks medical data about individuals and then generalises to conclude these differences are teeny weeny. It throws...

    FA allows sex discrimination

Those other issues do concern me but they are all contingent on the women's category being respected

No that's not the case. I started the thread as I shared a news article which raised this particular issue.

    FA allows sex discrimination

This is a Football and other Sports board. Why would I raise other issues? If it isn't black and white there's no need for a women's category at all. Which is exactly where this could lead - a Men's category and a Mixed category. The Women's category will be open to everyone.

Just to add I have been in some scrapes with women too. But they were as different as night from day.

    FA allows sex discrimination

    - 64 years of experience living in a small female body - I have been sexually assaulted several times by males, including twice inside Highfield road stadium when I was pinned against some railings. - I have been punched by a male outside Highfield rd. - I have been pushed and threatened several...
