Why are you playing one off the other? It isn’t a competition. Everyone, and I mean everyone, should be doing their part but it is going to take people dying, or their family dying, or their friends family dying to take this serious. Which when we look back will be utterly incomprehensible.

What I don’t get is the whole issue over the ‘pub’ like it is the holy grail of Britishness. And I say that from a guy who has sat in the boozer pretty much every weekend for the past 20 odd years. I’d say the same about yoga classes, book clubs and everything in between. This isn’t the time...

But it’s about limiting these occurrences? Simple as that. The whole ‘but but they’re doing it Sir’ doesn’t wash. Just limit social contact as much as possible. Whether it is the pub, workplace, dog walking groups, getting your hair done or dogging in the woods. Just not worth it.
