Match Thread Coventry City vs. Arsenal U21 Match Thread - Wednesday 12th Sep

It was the first leg final of the FA Youth Cup in 1999. We were schooled by a young joe Cole and beaten over two legs 9-0! The crowd at HR was excellent (but exceptional in the literal sense) it was only our second appearance in the youth club final (the first was in 1987 when we beat...

Match Thread Coventry City vs. Arsenal U21 Match Thread - Wednesday 12th Sep

I’ll concede the point abt a buzz around the club during the Skyblue revolution era - but we quickly became the least well supported club in the region after the late 1960s. Really good crowds were occasional but 10k for reserve games is fantasy. Attendances were never published for reserve...

Match Thread Coventry City vs. Arsenal U21 Match Thread - Wednesday 12th Sep

Yep course they did. In fact that’s just the number who were in the WesternTerrace. And we never lost HR and there were no restricted views caused by steel girders. And the Bovril was worthy of a Michelin star. And all the local kids supported the City rather than Liverpool or Man Utd or Leeds...

    Bolton

All true but it’s the money spent on David Wheater, Jay Spearing and Nigel Reo-Coker that’s probably more pertinent to their current plight.

    Death List 2018

Got to know her as our paths crossed on 5live a couple of years back. When my wife was diagnosed w breast cancer last year, Rachael’s blog was a great inspiration to her and Rachael was just brilliant to both of us on many occasions. Everything that’s being said abt her currently is true she was...

Throw ins - Are we missing something?

Ridiculous reception this has received in the media. Klopp has a throw-in specialist and it’s s sign of his visionary attention to detail, if it’d been Pulis or Graham Taylor or even Bobby Gould it would be a sign of their reliance on primitive tactics.

Good point. Remeber that Cody McDonald had scored a hat-trick by the end of his first training sesion

Conor Chaplin - Signing Confirmed (Finally!)

Really doesn’t matter tho. Not sure where he grew up (as a Pompey fan) but I doubt he’s been living on that Havant estate while he’s been playing for Portsmouth. Similarly he will be living in Leamington as a Cov player rather than Holbrooks.

Sure but it changes the meaning of your username and replicates the most commonplace and misunderstood grammar errors. Oh and Hillsbeard is a surname btw!

I agree but then it drives me mad that there’s no apostrophe in your username.

Good results? We were unbeaten for half a season!

    4-4-2

So simple but doubt that team ever took the field. Konjic was a major sicknote and McAllister’ injury really improved the team. Whelan was played out of position and Hadji didn’t arrive til after the 1998 World Cup by which time Chippo was also here. The best era 442 was more like:- Hedman...

    Biggest Embarrassment of the Night

Well actually I suppose I’d prefer the word “City” to accompany the word “Coventry” and the badge without the green turf but apart from that it was fine. The two blokes parading it round were clearly very pleased and it provoked a chorus of “we’ve got a flag” from the stands which was probably...
