On a 4.5 hour marathon I would mix an electrolyte sachet with water at half way. on long distance walks just enough to get by. I walked 50 miles over 17 hours a few Sundays back and just had a little snack every 3/4 hours. I find as said before that glucose gels etc make me nauseous as hell
