    21/22 Summer transfer mega-thread

As we now know the financial constraints, two strategic options seem to appear. Option 1. Last year, and with slightly less money than this year , the three main incomers were Hamer (wages and salary) allegedly for >£1m, Walker and O'Hare (both 'wages only'). Therefore all things being equal...

    Ex Player Watch

I think that just confirms my long held view that the standard of goalkeeping in L1 and L2 is dire. Wilson is League 1 level and actually pretty good for League 2, so it is unfortunate for him that he has been so repeatedly sidelined. I retain a soft spot for Burge purely because of the...

So who do we think will be leaving ?

Everything we know is that Robins is one of the least sentimental managers in the business. He has no favourites (except possibly Kelly). His dealing with the goalkeeper situation was very direct. I would be gobsmacked if he believed players like Allen or Max are good enough, but they have to...

So who do we think will be leaving ?

And for those who during the season will be moaning about the perfomance of x or y or z, remember you wanted to keep them. Of course the money is clearly not there. In simple terms my point was that we only have three players contracted to us who are definitely good enough for top half...

So who do we think will be leaving ?

Possibly true. But even with two up front, we were hardly banging them in

You could say the same about the fan's response to the Super League. Delete 'Ashley' insert 'Super league' delete 'him' and insert 'mult-millionaire owner'

    Budget

Not wholly true. The length of the rental agreement makes us a better bet. Also you make no allowance for SISU's own business needs. They have owned us for 15+ years, it has always been Joy and Timmy. That cannot continue for ever. Their reasons for persevering with us have long mystified me...

So who do we think will be leaving ?

Please read the post.... Maybe I want to ditch the strikers because we were singularly poor at scoring goals - all those 0-0 draws at home. Clearly you can't ditch the lot, but you still have to recognize they are not good enough, so all of them are individually dispensable if not en masse...

    Budget / Sheaf

If you accept the figures above (I realise you may not) £2.25m went on four strikers and £1.45m on two midfielders, out of 29 players - including Bapaga, Drysdale and Eccles, who have barely featured. If I was SISU, I would be pretty chuffed with that.

So who do we think will be leaving ?

Excluding loanees*, it is easier to say who Robins would definitely keep - there are only three (with three other possibles). Keep: Dabo, Hamer, O'Hare. And even then if the right offer came in... Possibles Walker (potential) MacFadz (until his legs finally go) Wilson (you need a second...

    Academy still shines.

But in 4 years under Robins it has produced the following regular first team players Year 1 - Bayliss & Shipley Year 2 - MacCallum Year 3 - Nobody Year 4 - Eccles (fringe) Next year - Drysdale? This is a piss poor return on investment.

Stats figures for how much each Championship club has spent

I was tring to get to the "managerial added value" - which would be expressed as the difference between the spend ranking and actual position ranking. As has been said, the more you spend the higher you go..And although it is basically true, you can see from Henshaw's table it is not absolutely...

Stats figures for how much each Championship club has spent

I think this is what I was looking for. I was expecting to be able to do a graph with spend along the bottom and points up the side, and the line looking like the top left quartile of the clock. So extra money at the bottom reeps high rewards but you get much fewer bangs for your buck the more...

Stats figures for how much each Championship club has spent

Frequently on here I see the assertion that the City have the second lowest budget in the Championship, with only Wycombe below us. Where are the stats to back this up? If somebody could point me in the right direction, or if somebody has them, I would be grateful. I'm interested in looking at...

    Match Thread Preston (H)

we need to keep playing our strongest team not because we still need to be mathematically safe but because winning games is fun, good for the players after a tough season and provides a positive launch pad for the season to come. Summer training would be much betteer on the back of a strong...
