Disappointing, but still in our hands

Well I tried to bury this but clearly you won't let this go. So back to basics... A. ''In our own hands'' means that our destiny is NOT dependent on any other team/result. B. ''Not in our own hands'' means that our destiny IS dependent on other teams/results. Which of these applies to CCFC at...

Disappointing, but still in our hands

Ok, I apologize if I have been less than polite and will now let this go. And breathe......

Yes I know what he means and agree. The phrase is simply not correct though and he keeps insisting that it is. Sorry for being a pedant but it got up me hooter! ;)

    You seem, well... cocksure.

Disappointing, but still in our hands

Tell that to CCFC! There shouldn't be an argument but because it is not a matter of opinion, but there you go. Anyhow Otis, I've seen you argue the toss when roused! :D

Disappointing, but still in our hands

I have no argument with any of that apart from your insistence that it is ''in our own hands''. You clearly do not understand the phrase. (or percentages)

    Ain't it though!

Disappointing, but still in our hands

No it is not! We can only overtake teams above us IF, repeat IF, they slip up. Please try to grasp this simple concept before one of us dies.

If Burton win all their remaining games they will be champions - FACT. If you disagree with that you are simply wrong. So... Is our destiny in our own hands? Yes or No?

Disappointing, but still in our hands

Unfortunately for you it's not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of fact.

Disappointing, but still in our hands

Yup, not good enough to be hard to beat, draws need to become wins!

Disappointing, but still in our hands

Rupert... as I said earlier, it is achievable, even likely if you are an optimist, but not 'in our hands'.
  14. Samo

Disappointing, but still in our hands

In theory yes. But you are ignoring the facts and the maths: If we win every game until the end of the season we will not be automatically promoted if the current top 2 do the same. It IS in their hands and theirs to lose. I'm not saying that's going to happen, just that at the moment, those...

Disappointing, but still in our hands

I agree completely. I wasn't being negative, just realistic about where we are right now.
  16. Samo

Disappointing, but still in our hands

Of course they are up for grabs but the fact is that we are reliant on other teams faltering to achieve promotion. The top 2 are not. It is in their own hands.

Disappointing, but still in our hands

No it isn't. I'm simply pointing out that the onus is on use to catch the 3 teams above us; it is therefore theirs to lose and in their hands.

Disappointing, but still in our hands

It's feasible, possible, achievable but 'in our hands' implies that it's ours to lose and it clearly is not.
