Once Again, the Inevitable Football League Show Thread...

Look out guys, it sounds like we're top game! Lets hope they show Brinner's Banner!

    Westwood

And the amazing dives to his side against Blackpool and Scunthorpe..one of which is still known as "the Banks save" to some of us.

    They were right

I just described it to my brother via text as being similar to that-the way he flung himself cat-like to somehow claw it over the bar. That was a world class save. It was in. Whatever people think, I'm fairly confident that he'll go on to be a top 4 clubs 'keeper in his career yet.

    They were right

Nah, he's miles better than their "number one". That position has always been up for debate-I don't think Westwood will be losing his place now. He also made a cracking save in the first half today. Shame Man City aren't in their home kit today, I can't pretend it's us.

    Westwood

Was just about to start a thread on this WHAT a double save, Hansen and Lawro waxing lyrical...makes you realise just what we've been missin! He won't look back from this, he has to stay in as a first choice now, surely? About time too.

    Clingan

After his performance, what did he expect? Sounds like a silly rumour, which will no doubt become gospel over the next few days...

    Transfer clauses

I'd say 9 is close enough to write him off if we'd have to stop playing him after 8. I think Ward had 3 or 4 to go when he was totally frozen out..still, it's probably just a bollocks conspiracy theory. Given SISU's record, it's hard to rule it out entirely though!
  8. Nonleagueherewecome

    which one to go?

Not true. Say SISU had gone instead of Ranson, we'd still have Thorn as manager. Hoffman is on the record as saying that he had discussed with Ranson the possibility of him as Director of Football with Thorn as First Team Manager some time back. Both Ranson and Hoffman are on the record as...

    Reid; Adams; Dowie; Coleman; Boothroyd

Coleman had loadsa dosh at Fulham: Van Der Saar was the highes paid keeper in the Prem at the time. Boothroyd had Young and King-too good for this division at the time-and 6 or 7 other superb Championship players. He was well and truly found out at Colchester. In general, the achievements of...

    Clingan

Pretty much agree with that, and he was much better second half when the entire midfield pushed on a lot more. Deegan was pants, really didn't look anywhere near match-fit. Nothing like he was before the latest knock. I thought Bell helped Sammy and the RB a fair bit in the 2nd half. Much as...

    protests

Yeah, saw that, there was quite a calamity as they scurried around wondering what to do! It got a lot of people where I sit singing "SISU OUT", and B21 is pretty placid. They'd had enough today, though.

He's a bit bigger than him!

Would you have any of them back?

I'd take Sexton or George and John back, but not Don. He was another terrible long-ball merchant. Thorn is George and John to Boothroyds Don Mackay!

    willis?

Already got a thread on him: http://www.skybluestalk.co.uk/threads/12421-jordan-willis

Would you have any of them back?

CORRECTION, he signed those players on Thorns recommendation after he scouted them. The only one I'd take back is Black, the rest have been abject failures. I rate Thorn miles above the lot.

    Thorn has to go

We did, and we created space and overload situations out wide. I'm moving into the 442 camp now, as it gives other teams a bit of a surprise. It may unleash our potential a lot more as it moves the entire shape 10 yards up the pitch.

    Hoffman

What I will never understand is how SISU expect this approach to be a success. I don't get what they are trying to do, and the blustery Mail interview with Ken where he claimed to be "very close" to having the cash to buy half of the stadium was laughably bullshit. So was his statement on the...

    Thorn has to go

If he gets money to spend at Christmas, we can judge him then. Fingers crossed if SISU go, he'll be given the tools to show that he can get us playing again.

Gotta love the hope! We need to be vocal and visible in our opposition to the present regime. Christ that sounds like something a Libyan or Syrian may have said recently...
