    Eccles

Happy to oblige. Nick's post is at the acceptable end of the spectrum as he at least makes no attempt to seem morally superior for changing his mind. Quite the reverse....

Match Thread Middlesbrough vs Coventry City Play off Semi final 2nd leg Match Thread - Wednesday 17th May

It feels like Hamer has almost singlehandedly dragged us to this position. I just think of 'journeyman pros' like McFadzean and Allen playing for Burton Albion, or Wilson - permanently on the bench. What must it feel like for them? Or even the young lads like BNC, Doyle & McNally used to...

Match Thread Middlesbrough vs Coventry City Play off Semi final 2nd leg Match Thread - Wednesday 17th May

I was at the Newcastle match. 2-0 down in 10 minutes, pulled one back straight away, then Gibbo equalized after 25 minutes. They went to 4-2, before we again pulled one back - Rees iirc. Lost, but a cracking match.

    And So It Begins

"But you have to remember that we as a club are much higher up the football league, and so it's more difficult for youngsters to break through" That is a platitude and anyway did not apply in league 1 nor to other clubs whose youth players do come through

    And So It Begins

Yes I forgot him. But again only because of an injury crisis and he did not impress. Anyway that is just 'whataboutery'. Can anyone seriously argue that our youth programme has produced much in 5 years. The key measure is the number of players coming through to the first team - winning Youth...

    And So It Begins

I mentioned eccles as the only one in 5 years, and they are only in because of injury other players. It also looked as tho Robins had little faith in Burroughs.

    And So It Begins

...our youth set up is clearly not good enough. Has not been for ages. Nee and Burroughs were supposed to be two of the best prospects but they are clearly not up to scratch. Youth set ups are a long haul - look at the time these boys have been with us. If it is sorted out now, we will not see...

    Has is sunk in?

Wouldn't fancy being a Millwall fan right now. Imagine this place if we had been 3-1 up and lost, People would be on suicide watch...

Match Thread ⚽️ Middlesbrough vs Coventry City Match Thread - Monday 8th May

I'd go for the max defence option - Dabo & Bidwell rather than JWE & BNC plus Jamie Allen running around harrasing them rather than Godden Suspect Robins will not be as pessimistic. Fear the worst

    So what’s permutations please

the only upside (although I am not sure it is one) is that everybody else knows they need to win, we only need a draw. Thinking particularly of Sunderland and WBA.

    So what’s permutations please

In our bones don't we know that we will suffer a narrow defeat and Sunderland and Millwall (most likely) will pip us? Late Sunderland winner anyone?

Match Thread ⚽️ Coventry City vs Birmingham City Match Thread - Saturday 29th Apr

one of the wing/full backs has to be more defensively minded - so it is either BNC & Bidwell or Dabo & JWE, or else were re leaving it a bit to chance

Match Thread Sheff United v West Brom

There are 5 teams in the mix inc ourselves. Given they are the top teams there is a fair chance 2 of the 4 other teams will win both their last two games. That means 2 teams on 71. Bear in mind that Millwall play Blackburn so only one of those can

    Championship 22-23

Predicting is a mug's game but it is most likely that Cov, Blackburn, Millwall, WBA and Sunderland will all win this weekend - even Blackburn against Luton - leaving a last day shoot out between the 5 for 2 places Millwall & Blackburn play each other and neither has as good a goal difference...

Match Thread ⚽️ Coventry City vs Birmingham City Match Thread - Saturday 29th Apr

Same team as Reading. Dabo v BNC is a toss of the coin as they both have obvious failings just different ones. I would stick with Dabo for all his failings. Tight game, as they are improving, will want to be party poopers (see Millwall), and we will be nervous. All this stuff about losing to...

    West brom Vs Sunderland

At this level anybody can beat anybody. QPR to beat Burnley anyone? You have to assume any of our contenders could get max ;points, therefore eliminating games in hand is important - so well done Sunderland

    West brom Vs Sunderland

Forecasting based on predicting future results is a mug's game. Millwall 0 Birmingham 1 anybody. Complete collapse of relegated Premioership teams Watford and Norwich. The key driver imho is purely games to be played, because at this level you must expect contenders to win every game even if...

King must have a permanent boner.

SISU made it clear over the summer they were looking to get out - the demise of Wasps was the last opportunity. There was no serious acquisition, just Palmer who was a freebie. The requirement to sell Hyam to cover the repair of the pitch and the desire to sell O'Hare were other clues. Then they...
