    Burglars

A customer of mine has recently been burgled, took her car, money, valuables, laptop, phone, wiped her out. I've been burgled in the past so know how she feels, and when I was a kid our house got done and never caught the thieves. I reckon it's on the increase as I see the aftermath of this on my...

    Boxing

I'm 64 but still love exercise, especially walking, I can walk miles and enjoy it. I honestly think it can keep you alive, as when I look back at all the drinking I used to do I'm amazed I'm still around. Yes I still enjoy a drink, but if you keep active etc I reckon it can outweigh all the bad...

    Boxing

Thanks for that. We can get obsessed with age, but if you look after yourself it shouldn't be an obstacle. He says the training is tough, and as he's been a smoker/dope, he has gone through it. The good thing is its kept him off it and his coach is impressed with his determination.

    Boxing

Off thread a little. My son is 34 but a young 34 and has taken up boxing. He won his charity fight recently and has been training regularly in a gym. His trainer has said he's talented and is sorting out fights. My son wishes he'd taken up the sport years ago, but his coach says age isn't a...

    The Beano 80 Years

Just read that the Beano comic is celebrating it's birthday tomorrow, it'll be eighty years old. As a kid my favourite comics were the Valiant and the Eagle. But football magazines were my number one read, The Soccer Star was out weekly and had it delivered, collected hundreds of them. I'd cut...

Match Thread West Brom v Coventry City Friendly

I remember winning 1-0 there in the FACup I think in 73 ? Chilton scored our goal. We had a big following that day, and we had a good drink in the Sword and Alhambra when we got back.

    Racist Aladdin?

It's getting past a joke all this political correctness. Can't say this, can't say that, you're scared to say anything. A football poets site I belong to don't allow you to even say bloody, if you do they change it to flippin. What the flippin hell is that about !

Who did you really dislike but now like?

That's all we knew back then though, if you complained to your parents they'd say that you must have deserved it. But it taught that violence was okay then, because some teachers were violent, I thought that was how you sorted things out. No wonder I got in to so much trouble, if someone upset...

Who did you really dislike but now like?

Vic Webb the maths teacher at Cally would punch you in the head, throw a board rubber at you,and strangely twist your ear. He was an ex army major and a scary bastard. But after duffing you up he'd say see you for your next lesson. A psycho teacher !

Who did you really dislike but now like?

I went to Cally too when it was strict all boys school. I loved football and rugby, and played for the school and Cov Boys. My house master Mister Siddle was also my rugger coach, and we got on well. But he once called me into his office for missing detention. I thought I'd get a ticking off,but...
