    Cyrille or Dion?

What a great first game to see - no wonder you were hooked! Football is sanitised now, 15,000 standing fans, the surges, the emotion, and ee’re In the semi final of the FA Cup. Of course, we have to remember what happened at Hillsborough two short years later, and I guess those kind of days had...

    Big Cyrille

I’ve just emailed bbc breakfast suggesting that they mention in their coverage of Cyrille, his winning of an FA Cup winners medal with City in 1987. Quite right that they focus on his role as a black footballer leading the way against racism, but worth noting his major success in the domestic...

    Big Cyrille

An excellent post, thank you. I was at Hillsborough that day and that first goal was tremendous, and sent us on our way to Wembley. A great player, and by all accounts, a gentleman, humble, approachable, brave.

Is The FA Cup Becoming a Millstone To Us?

Probably me being very thick, but #SHFWF?

    Cyrille or Dion?

Just watched a clip of the game at Sheff Wed, 6th round of the FA Cup. Cyrille scoring the first goal, pace, power, composure, total joy from him when he scored, and the 15,000 City fans in the Leppings Lane end, a great day and memory. I’ve been extremely fortunate to see 2 iconic centre...

Is The FA Cup Becoming a Millstone To Us?

You may well be right, but things do change, the team that play where you live is a good example. I went to the Withdean when City played there in the FA Cup (winning goal from McSheffry?) and there was a team and a club on their knees. I don’t know how old you are BSB, I’m 62, and I haven’t...

    Big Cyrille

My wife and I in shock, and tearful. This is so sad. So many good memories. Our thoughts with his family, R. I. P. Cyril Regis.

Is The FA Cup Becoming a Millstone To Us?

Whilst I understand your sentiments, it’s a bit harsh. A big pay day in the 5th round would help our club, and perhaps some of those children who attend will persuade their fathers to take them to league games - although I accept this doesn’t appear to have happened after the Checkatrade last...

    Mark Robins Plea

I don’t think there’s fundamentally anything wrong with what MR has said, we need more fans at home, not just from a financial perspective, although this is crucial, but from an atmosphere/support position. His choice of words ‘let bygones be bygones’ is not something that City fans can buy...

    Exeter Player ratings

Thanks for the comprehensive feedback, it sounds like another frustrating afternoon, the stats appear to show that we dominated the game but couldn’t score again. Oh, well, we go again next week, but this season is turning out to be, and will remain, a bare knuckle ride.

    Recording match of the day

I was listening on 5 live. Bloody painful, but what a great result. Chuffed for team, fans, and the City of Culture!

    Recording match of the day

Well, I didn’t see that, but credit to him for that.

    Bye Bye Hughes

I’m not keen on MH, think he’s an excuse maker, nothing is ever the fault of him or his team. Having said that, it’s not good to glorify in someone’s failure or losing their job. Although he won’t be out of work for long.

    Biamou

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I was at Carlisle and thought he was poor that day, but feel he offers a lot to our team, as, more importantly, does MR. He may well come good in terms of goals, as has McNulty. I would be concerned, however, if I was getting ‘likes’ from Grendel.

    Who could/should you have supported?

I live in the North East and always watch for local results - Gateshead, Blyth, South Shields etc. Some really good lower league teams up here, of which Blyth is one.

    Who could/should you have supported?

When I was 5 in 1960, football mad, my parents bought me a Wolves strip (the top team in the country at that time?), ironic, as a few short years later, Wolves were the enemy. My first game was in 1963 against Sunderland in the 5th round of the FA Cup. My Grandad, a ‘sand dancer’ from South...
