Whilst you may have a point in some regards, surely Maths personifies the very ‘problem solving/critical thinking’ that is absent? Very few maths specialists in Primary over the years, have contributed to an array of different methods to solve problems. Whilst it may have some good aspects, they rarely become fluent in any method. Something also missed is that it also relies on literacy and comprehension relative to Maths...

Not for the reasons you think though. Critical thinking is hugely important, but there is not time for it in the ‘curriculum’ which is largely ticking boxes to satisfy consultants/OFSTED/Trustees.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I’m not particularly bothered about this instance to be fair as a single thing. But then I can also appreciate that if I was someone who had a family member die alone at this time I’d be fucking apoplectic. It still smacks of them being above their own rules too.

Using absolute values without context is meaningless - populations size and proportion fully vaccinated should be considered. For context - in SA where this variant supposedly originated they have only 26% fully vaccinated from a population of 60m we have 70% of a 68m population.
