Any of my criticism of Bassette has been that's he's not ready yet and needs to be eased in to this level of football more. I've repeatedly said I'm happy he's at the club and think he has the potential to be a great player for us.

You don't have much empathy do you? He's a 23 year old guy, all the outrage about performances gets a bit silly when you remember the players are actual humans at the end of the day.

I don't think Simms will ever be that effective coming off the bench. He does need the team to be playing to his strengths which are quite different to our other strikers.

66/1 is hardly gambling if you think we’re in a relegation battle, it’s easy money. Lay it off near the end of the season and you’re not even risking anything. Unless the bookies actually have it right and we’re in no danger of relegation of course.

I would think when they refer to fitness they’re probably talking about objective testing - eg lactate testing or similar. You would hope that’s the level we’re at as a club. Obviously that doesn’t always directly translate to results on the pitch.
