    Championship 22-23

You have 22 players on the pitch actively & intentionally cheating & looking to con the officials non-stop for the entirety of the match & we are outraged when eventually they get a decision wrong. Simple answer is, stop cheating.

    Carlton Morris dive

I think he'll get a 2 game ban (same as Godden). I initially thought he'd probably get away with it as there's such a high bar to prove it's deliberate deception i.e. he could claim he just stumbled or what have you but to go live on Sky Sports & admit you went down because you anticipated the...

Completely agree on that. I think Gyok deserved it over Akpom but hey ho.

Exactly, which is why we have so many other metrics nowadays that we can make a judgement on & average them out so we're comparing apples with apples as best we can. Johansson faces more difficult shots, saves more shots, has a higher save % (awful stat by itself) etc. We can look at the Post...

But then you're ruling out a player simply because he plays for a weaker team. Is De Gea the best keeper in the Premier League?

Believe me, in the right circles they do! That's why xG & particularly npxG will always be looked at when assessing a strikers finishing. Extreme hypothetical example but if a keeper makes no saves in a game & keeps a clean sheet is he better than a keeper that faces 20 excellent shots & 3...

Understand what you're saying but Clean Sheets is really a team achievement. Wilson averages just over 3 Shots on Target Against per 90, putting him in the bottom 3rd for SOTA. Johansson faces almost 5 Shots on Target per 90 (96th percentile) Johansson faces more shots, more difficult shots...

Hamer incredibly unlucky, it was decided some time ago but still harsh. That Midfield is... odd. Brownhill isn't even Burnley's best CM, Scott is an incredible talent (& deservedly YPOTY) but hasn't had the season of the likes of Cullen, Norwood or of course Gus & shoehorning a winger/forward...

    Championship 22-23

I count 14 players in squad v Reading that also were in squad for the previous game. EFL guidelines say 10. No case to answer. The irony being they played their 'full strength' team yesterday vs QPR & lost.

    Shaun Jeffers

Yep. Excellent at that level. That's 25 goals for the season. Was 2nd highest scorer last season too with 27.

Exactly right. Incredible desperation from Huddersfield to make such a complaint.

Great performance. Well done Kels 👏🏻

Agree with most of that. The only thing I'd say is the clear view thing, the angle they have is completely different to the rest of us watching from the stands/on TV etc.
  15. Frostie

    Referee

Indeed. The way they're making out over there that he's missed the most blatant handball ever is clutching at straws. We've all seen it now from about 4 different angles in full speed, slow mo, freeze frame & still images and yet it's still inconclusive. A ref has one view, in real time...

Video Blackburn Rovers v Coventry City highlights

Yeah, unfair to blame BNC, he can't be in 2 places at once. It was a tactical decision to adopt the high press. High risk, high reward. It nearly worked for us on a couple of occasions, forcing turnovers high up the pitch but we failed to capitalise. Blackburn played through the press well on a...

    Referee

Yeah, exactly this. It's why the lino was able to overrule him as you need the side on view to see what actually happened. The bit I don't get is having informed the ref of what he'd seen why is the ref not then interpreting that as deserving of a 2nd yellow?
  18. Frostie

    Referee

It would have only been VAR reviewed for a straight red card which it probably wasn't so he'd still have escaped the sending off. The linesman must have seen it clearly to recommend the reversal of the decision though (we know they rarely get involved unless absolutely certain) so surely he...

Generally I think ref has had a decent game but that's clearly ours & Travis should be off.
