On that subject, where’s Todd Kane now?

I think we can now be fairly confident of no major players going out, just maybe a fringer like Bidwell. Bench looked light today, think we need some steady cover all over and most importantly a creative midfielder. The midfielder might well be from abroad, any one half decent from England...

I guess it makes sense having a 5ft 4 player (JDS) take a set piece and a taller player in the box if nothing else for the aerial option. The only issue is if it’s a wide defender from the opposite side - vulnerability on the break.

We seem a little better with throw ins with JDS and MVE. Historically we’d turn over possession a lot from not being able to throw the ball to one of our own players. Today we seemed quick to it and a bit more incisive. Just a small observation on the positive side.

Wilson 7 Good distribution on the whole. Gets around the box quick. All ok. Thomas 6 Big player that gets about and good that he’s willing to get forward but a couple of daft fouls and runs that left us short at the back. Settled in ok though and seems decent overall. Fadz 7 Good...

Match Thread Swansea City - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 19th Aug

They are not youth players or lower league 500k gambles. They are marquee signings at big money. They have potential but my point stands: They are not the finished article. Wright needs a few months to get to grips with off the ball movement/ tracking back and positioning. Sims needs...

We don’t seem to have any “invention” in the middle. We need a couple of midfielders in this week at least.

We’ve spent 10-15m on two strikers that we don’t play together and I’m afraid to say are no where near the finished article.

    Transfer Rumour Callum Styles

I had pericarditis at about 21/22. Just felt exhausted for months afterwards (6?) I wasn’t an elite athlete like a professional footballer so maybe he’ll be back sooner.

Marosi was alright until he had his head kicked in. Was going to take time for him to fully recover and we couldn’t afford the risk of him not being 100% right.

    Transfer Rumour Callum Styles

It took him some time to get into competitive thinking; he used to hold on to the ball and get it taken off him and play silly passes that would be intercepted and it’d cost us. His lack of confidence to shoot also cost us opportunities. That said, for all those faults, his break up play and...

    3 choices.

And of former players; Fight: Freddy Eastwood. Might win but I’d probably end up under Tarmac a few days later. Holiday: Onandi Lowe - but I’d be checking my bags on. Trust with Wife: Jay Tabb. Apparently.

    3 choices.

Not fight: Thomas. He looks a wrong’un. Holiday: Ben Wilson - he’d be a mad laugh. Trust with wife: Jamie Allen. Not because he’s short and would keel over with his heart issues. That’d be an awful thing to say.

    2023-24 New Kit Thread

Interesting that the back is blue and the front is dominated by red. According to the psychology articles above, that’s put fear in opponents facing and composure in our players passing to a player running in space. Probably boll**** but…. I wonder if there’s any merit in putting goalies in...

    2023-24 New Kit Thread

As an aside, I’m sure I read something years ago about psychology and kit colours and the effects on opponents. Red kits create danger in opponent mindsets and are more likely to win. Blue is “cool under pressure”. Just saying. I never liked us playing in pale yellow. Glad it’s not that...
