I appreciate it's difficult to tell on a written forum, but there was no insinuation. Records are there to be broken. Lampard was the man to do it before, here's hoping he can do it again!
We put one decent cross in yes. What about the other 32?
I agree Simms isn't the best at attacking crosses but what we have seen quite a bit of under Lampard is he occupies defenders allowing others (usually Rudoni) more space to attack it.
It just seems mad that we would choose to play that...
I know.
Perhaps I should have been clearer but that's why I capitalised 'Big Chance' to reflect that I was talking about the statistics. Either way, it's a well established theme now that we struggle to break down teams that put everyone behind the ball & failing to even get a shot away is...
By the Opta definition of Big Chance, not even getting a shot away obviously doesn't count & the Sheaf effort is nowhere near the Big Chance threshold. The effort was dreadful & he obviously should have done better, but it's low xG (0.13). It doesn't even make it onto the extended highlights it...
Rudoni's goal was almost identical xG to Mayenda's (0.48 vs 0.50) & was the only Big Chance we had.
As much possession & control as we had, we created almost nothing. They did an absolute number on us, forcing us wide & then our only gameplan seemed to be to toss the ball into the box which...
No qualms over any decisions tonight specifically.
As I've always said, every sympathy with them over individual decisions etc. as it's an impossible ask, but they really do need to understand when they are being played with the time wasting etc.
Frustrating.
It's well known that we always struggle when teams come & park the bus & then you've always got a chance of an error within you.
Fwiw, I thought Sunderland got it spot on tactically, 2 incredibly solid banks of 4 then 2 pacy strikers on the counter.
On the other hand, I think...
I've seen Bristol City fans saying he shouldn't have been given the game as he's given 4 red cards in his last 4 games... Why is that relevant if they're correct decisions? It actually should have been 5 reds in 4 games as Jones should have walked for Luton vs us. Surely a ref prepared to give...
Always likely to end this way imo although sooner than expected. He didn't like the setup at Sunderland as more & more was being taken out of his hands in terms of recruitment etc. with him not having the final say on players & WBA run a similar structure to that too.
Obviously they are a big...
My worry is when we have come up against supposedly 'lesser' teams away from home, that have a very clear identity of how they play, we have completely failed to adapt to it. Portsmouth, Derby & today we will have known in advance exactly what they would attempt to do & yet we have completely...
