    They can upgrade the existing and pay for HS2 and subsidise cheaper tickets, it's just a choice they've made not to really. I spend enough money on rail tickets last season to pay for a holiday abroad, like you say it's a disgrace.

    Cheaper rail tickets and scrapping HS2 are opposing moves. HS2 increases capacity which increases volume and should theoretically increase supply vs demand.
