I think you’ll find you were the one kicking off at the mere suggestion Godden should be benched 🤣
It’s been an ok start all considered. Still think we’ll improve and a midfield addition in Jan could make us a real contender.
He’s not shit at all. One of the best finishers I’ve seen at the club, and deserves to be playing at this level. I’m just not sure he’s the striker that will get us promoted.
Actually I will continue because you’ve just compared Matt Godden to Mo Salah 😂😂😂
Never mind the fact Liverpool play a completely different tactical system to us, or that we’re clearly playing slightly different to last year, it must be good for everyone because Salah does it!
It really isn't.
Intelligent pressing gains you an advantage through winning the ball or forcing an opponent into a disadvantageous pass (going long or playing to a teammate under pressure). When the opposition can play to another player in space and reset the press we don't gain anything...
Bingo
Godden's "pressing" is mostly running to within 5 yards of a player who then passes it on to an unmarked teammate. Might get a clap from the gammons but it isn't actually benefitting us on the pitch.
The shot at the end was very disappointing, especially in front of 20,000 people who watched us concede at the death last week.
If you are going to take the shot on at least hammer it so there’s no way the keeper is holding it.
He didn’t put any crosses in. His “1-2s” were negative, going backwards not forwards.
Multiple times he received it around their box and passed it back to Eccles/Allen rather than taking his man on or whipping it in.
I would probably have given Ayari a 5 without his involvement in the goal.
Lati was poor going forward, didn’t use the width or offer anything offensively.
Hard to rate Kelly in that limited time so I gave him the average.
Wilson
Thomas Fadz Binks
Lati Allen Eccles Dasilva
Ayari
Wright Simms
I know he won’t do it but I’d like to see Wright and Simms in from the start. Norwich will play higher and their pace would be useful.
