It's not a natural position though and doesn't optimise the team. If he's central, he can drift left or right. If he's deployed out on the right in a 442, he has duties that come with that position. If he is allowed to roam free and float about, those duties get neglected. He could be stuck...

Rudoni needs to be central. 442 doesn't play to his strengths and he is our best player.

I think the affinity with Palmer probably stems from the racism he received from Sheff Wed fans. We backed him up after that and that probably plays through to giving him applause now.
