League 1 away average attendances so far

Yeah bit harsh on Sunderland. True about Pompey, in the late 90s they were averaging sub 10K in the Championship. They have rallied around the club in recent times though, so fair play.

Yeah that was some day. Unreal scenes.

League 1 away average attendances so far

Yep, Sunderland too. They took some shocking followings in their relegation season in the Championship. If those two clubs were to spend 8 years at this level (and lower) like we have they would see numbers plummet. They do have a lot of distance to cover tbf, although Sunderland do have a lot...

League 1 away average attendances so far

Talking of Wimbledon, the scrum for tickets for that game will be unreal. We've also got Gillingham where we don't travel well usually. On the flip side, you get a decent allocation at Accrington and Blackpool so potential for decent followings there.

League 1 away average attendances so far

But let's not forget, many games we have sold out. Oxford, Wycombe, Burton, Shrewsbury, Rotherham and one or two others. If these clubs had bigger away ends our average would be much higher. Same for other clubs too. But to make the point we've only taken above 1800 a handful of times ignores...

Why would rival traveller families brawling at a national event reflect badly on Coventry? Nobody will pin this on the venue or location.

Ha ha, fair comment. I was a bit trigger happy with that post.

Sounds like a good time to play them. They've had some good results recently, including the draw with Rotherham, but sounds like they've got some major injury problems. Will be surprised if this goes ahead though. Forecast is for winds at least as strong as Sunday. Can see a lot of games called...

That had nothing to do with the Pompey game. Quite a few got jailed for that game on its own, including a number who had never been involved in any sort of football violence before or had any sort of criminal record. Some of the sentences were shocking.

Yeah, a lot of City fans did time for that and Pompey fans who instigated the whole thing largely got away with it.

    Underlying Data

Find the xG data interesting. Don't know why people are taking offence to it. It's just a harmless distraction. I'm also sure that somebody as thorough and thoughtful as MR will use statistical analysis. Would be very surprised if he didn't.

    Anti Football Pompey Nill

I thought they looked a decent side, you can see how they have rolled over sides recently. Work really hard, press like men possessed and do have some quality. It's not often we're on the wrong side of possession stats. They won't be far away come the end. Huge win that.

I'm all for winning games in league 1 if it means we get out of it, been down here too long now. This is our chance you feel. Championship would be great, some great fixtures. Premier league - no burning desire to get there for the reasons you give. I've never been less interested in it.

Yep it will happen. Would just prefer to have more of a cushion before it does. Two very winnable games coming up, got to be thinking 6 points.

Yeah and were in the top 4 after Christmas that season. Completely collapsed late in that season.

Looking at Southend, they seem to have turned the corner a bit. Just one defeat in 5 at home, including a draw with Rotherham. Two of their 3 wins this season have come recently. Still, you'd like to think we'd go there and win the game. Don't like this talk of we can afford to lose points!

We flirted with it a couple of times. In 88/89 weren't we third in March? Fell away to 7th in the end. But yeah, point stands.

5 is harsh, but not one of his better games. I'll give him that though, because he has been immense this season. Portsmouth's high press was very effective and he was forced long quite a few times. Great spirit in this side. McFadzean was outstanding.
