So anyone regretting the early season ticket buy now McNulty sold ?

Mcnulty had a great season no doubt, but it won't be until Christmas that we can really assess the impact of his loss. I think its actually positive he's gone now rather than around the transfer deadline, so that Robins can now make a proper informed signing rather than a panic one to replace...

    John Sillett

I'm a bit surprised he would say buying Speedie was a mistake. He was fantastic for us and one of my favourite players. If there was a mistake it was not signing more players like him when our stock was high, particularly a left back.

One of the great things about this season

I agree completely with this, and is why it has been so hard for us to retain players like Maddison & Thomas that we might previously have kept for a little bit longer. Prem clubs & even Championship clubs sign players they have no intention of putting in their team, but who they still own...

    Liam Gallagher loving Coventry

What Man City played in was known as light blue. The term 'Sky Blues' started with JH's CCFC. Man City have never been the Sky Blues, although some lazy commentators are happy to label them with that tag.

What Song Would You Listen To ?

Footballers have awful taste in music & I would hate to be stuck on a coach listening to their crap selection. This isn't a particularly generational comment either as I remember back in the 80's in the Shoot magazine Q& A's that favourite music act would inevitably be boring dross like Phil...

most ever CCFC fans in one ground

The West Ham cup game at their place was my first away game. What an introduction! Was 16 & living in Rugby & got train - after the game was absolute mayhem. I got split up from my mates & just put my head down ignoring the flying bricks & bottles & fist fights going around me. Somehow made it...

    Jonathan forte

Journeyman who had a good end to the season. His career record doesn't suggest he is anything special & knowing a few Notts fans I don't think they are overly bothered about his release. I'm always wary of signing players who do well against us as we naturally think that is their usual level of...

    Wembley Parking

Stanmore is definitely good for anyone travelling from Cov, & from where you can then get the train (oyster card seriously reduces prices). If you get there early enough you don't necessarily need to park in the station & face the inevitable long queue to leave, as there is street parking too...

The trains and Coventry station platform queue situation

I would have thought that for anyone travelling from the Longford/ Holbrooks/ Bedworth side of town that travelling from Nuneaton station might be a better option fot a less chaotic journey.

    kevin nolan

Not sure if the 'bitter blue' comment was suggesting Nolan is/ was an Everton fan, but my Everton supporting mate who watched the game with me on Friday was adamant that Nolan was a 'red'. He was slating him at every opportunity & loved that his anti football style got its just rewards.

Match Thread Notts County v Coventry Friday 18th May

Completely agree. The best goal scorers are those that accept they will miss chances, but are able to then put that behind them the next time they get a chance. Ponticelli seems to be that type. I don't think he worries about missed chances and I would be more confident about him converting a...

Sky Blues Betting Previews & Tips

It's gonna be a nervy night & I can't see it being anything but a tight affair. Not betting on this as we always lose if I bet on us, but 11/1 for us to win on penalties looks a decent shout.

    Penalty takers friday night?

Not sure about Kelly - has he any history of taking them at previous clubs? He strikes me as the sort of player that will look to gently place one in the corners rather than put his laces through it ie the sort of old pro who regularly turns out to be the type to miss in these occasions. Can't...

    Penalty takers friday night?

Pretty sure I remember Doyle scoring a pen in his 1st spell with us.

    Penalty takers friday night?

Vincenti, Shipley & Ponticelli scored in the Checktrade game at Walsall (McNulty missed)

    Observations tonight....

Always amazes me how many football fans don't seem to know the basic rules/ laws of the game.

    1963, 55 years

I have been to Meadow Line 4 times when we've played them & we've lost the lot, 2-1 & 5-1 in the early 80's - in the latter game Justin Fashanu destroyed us. 1-0 in the early 90's when Don Howe was managing us (awful game) & a woeful 3-0 defeat a few years back when they had Jack Grealish...

    Friday night's team

Ponticelli might not be the best footballer we have, but is far and away the best finisher in the club. I don't think he would be phased in the slightest at taking a penalty, or the possibility & repercussions of missing one. Take a look at his penalty in the shoot out at Walsall earlier this...

    Friday night's team

For no other reason than I have a gut feeling this is gonna end in penalties, I would start the same team & leave potential penalty takers like JCH & Ponti to come on to help win the shoot out.

Match Thread Coventry City vs Notts County Match Thread - Saturday 12th May

Yes I guess initially players would deliberately look to hit the ball against the hand, which does seem to happen in hockey whenever I've seen it,, but after a short while I think defenders & forwards would adapt their skill sets to deal with it. I don't know enough about hockey to be sure about...
