Really surprising. The bottom half of that league is like non-league here. The players might be a bit better but the stadiums and attendances are so poor. Surely if a PL side were interested, he wouldn’t go.

    Hamer

This is what most of us thought walking out of Wembley

Yeah get that. Just find it surprising, it seems such an obvious move if I was a low-middling PL side in need of a striker. Perhaps that is the issue..

Every signing is a risk though, so where do you draw the line? Dominating in the Championship is a pretty fair indicator for being a success in the PL. There have clearly been a load watching him, the pundits love him, his stats are brilliant.

It’s not a large fee for a striker though. And the same can be said for buying from any other league.

    Gyokeres

Yeah possibly, though it’s not that much money for a player with his record, especially when you look at other PL successes. Perhaps his finishing is too much of a concern.

The idea that no PL side is interested would really surprise me.

Well then why do European competition level players end up in mid-bottom half PL teams? Because they’re paid more here. It’s not a delusion is it, just how the world works.

Wouldn’t say it’s English delusions. It’s financially driven. You can earn the most money there, for now.

Like this. Want to see us speculate to accumulate, has worked really well for us in the past 3 years, despite some of the failures. £5m is a lot but the championship a great shop window. If he performs he could be worth 50-100% more in 12 months.

    Hamer

We have to be careful here. As some are saying, if we blow the wage structure on Hamer then it will cost us more than the extra £10k a week. Existing player contract discussions, and new players negotiations with agents. Hamer is worth it, no doubt - but what are the knock-on effects? If we...

I think you've got to bear in mind they're the strongest side to ever get promoted from the Nat League. I'd fully expect them to get promotion this season at the first time of asking. League one will be tougher, but very conceivable they do it in 2-3 seasons. Lincoln almost did exactly that in...

You're on a forum, losing your head because someone disagrees with you, and all the while agreeing with posts which go against the argument you're putting forward (because you don't understand what they're saying). A day well spent

Bloody hell David. Their point is that Wrexham's sponsorship value is far higher than any other L2 club. Hence they'll charge 10x more than any other team for sponsorship. They won't overpay, but that price is significantly higher than say Grimsby.

Yep. I think they’ll end up shifting Parkinson this year as his football is a bit turgid, but in League two there’s still every chance they make the top 3 first time out.

Different level of money due to the revenue streams, so should give them more flexibility with FFP (if anything it probably benefits them). Look at the sponsorship they announced yesterday! They'll be championship within 3-4 years
