EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

I understand that there is a contractual agreement between the PL & EFL, which relates to promotion and relegation. Any deviation from that could lead to litigation between those two.

    How does it work

The National governing body of football in England is the FA and they’ve said there has to be promotion and relegation this season. As there will be no games this season in league 1 . A decision has to be made how the table is decided. At some point teams will vote for something and if...

    Premier League

Exactly - the rules of football in England are subject to the national governing body. Therefore, the bottom 3 clubs in the PL have a choice of play the remaining games or be relegated on PPG. I assume the sale "guidance" has been given to the EFL

As for Laura K - I keep hearing from Labour supporters as referring to her as "Tory K" and her husband being a Tory.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

There are reports that the FA are pressuring the EFL to ensure there is promotion and relegation, so whilst the clubs in Div 1 & 2 will probably agree to ending the season, the key decision is deciding the final positions. I personally think that is PPG is offered with a correction factor for...

EFL Decision on Coventry’s future expected today

The current situation of 6 of the PL clubs trying to block neutral venues to play the remaining games is brinkmanship. Ultimately, they’ll be faced with playing at neutral venues of forgoing “x” million £ in TV revenue. A few Chairman might start to think differently about taking their chances...

EFL Decision on Coventry’s future expected today

Exactly and if anyone thinks it would be one legal process - they are deluded. Any party losing would appeal to a higher court. It could lead to next season being stopped by an injunction, so the EFL will be treading very carefully.

EFL Decision on Coventry’s future expected today

As stated before there are £750 000 000 reasons why the PL will be completed in some form with the knock on impact on the EFL to promote 3 teams

EFL Decision on Coventry’s future expected today

There seems to be a lot of double standards being promoted. Construction sites around the UK are working or returning to work. You just have to see the HS2 sites to witness workers not socially distancing and there thousands of them! So to pick out football as being unsafe in comparison is bonkers.

EFL Decision on Coventry’s future expected today

The Premier League season will be completed for two reasons. 1. The PL's liability to broadcasters across the world stands at circa £750 million if the season is not completed. This would cripple some of the clubs and lead to a massive culling of other PL programmes in education, community work...

EFL Decision on Coventry’s future expected today

Concerning news from Germany where they started to lift some of the restrictions and infection rate has now risen again. This might raise questions of football returning there with the impact of affecting decisions here

EFL Decision on Coventry’s future expected today

There is another alternative being promoted for Div 2 of top 3 on ppg and playoffs for the last promotion place on a single game basis between places 4-7 . If that was adopted in Div 1 with top 2 on ppg and 3-6 playing off. I’d be happy

Unacceptable idea! Undermining the league process.

    EFL Meeting 1pm today

UEFA have announced a return of football in June and seem intent on completing the Champions league, so if the Premier league is scrapped in England UEFA could use it as an excuse to penalise English clubs from competing in the 20-21 season.

    EFL Meeting 1pm today

You are "spot on", which is why the I feel the Premier league is certain to be completed otherwise they are liable for over £700M. In the Division 1 the scenarios may vary, but if the PL is completed, then 3 teams will be relegated and the EFL Championship will have to come up with some formulae...

    Coronavirus (CCFC Related)

Bizarre post - the majority of the governments in the west are focussed on smaller state intervention. Don't get confused by the thinking the gross incompetence of our government in dealing with a pandemic is a conspiracy.

Several EFL Clubs “days away from going bust”

IMO - The key to any decision will be driven by money. I cannot see the value for the broadcasters of taking additional games next season, in lieu of curtailing the league this season. Currently, the broadcasters have no material to promote and they'll be desperate for a short term fix to retain...

The figures only refer to deaths in hospitals. I hope you’re right, but not sure we’ve seen the peak yet . There are reports of care homes being told not to send residents to hospital and only treat them there

I find the whole debate around the premier league players sensationalist reporting. Especially given that players are considered assets of the companies they serve and this places clubs in a difficult contractual position if the break their signed agreements. In comparison we have the water...

Having spoken to my son who is a frontline doctor dealing with Covid19. It really struck home the seriousness of the infection. He is seeing patients die that have previously been fit and well and the time it takes to stabilise people is long........and some are not responding to ventilation, so...
