Match Thread Rochdale vs. Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 22nd Feb

I think that's a sign of a good team though - finding ways to win. For example today our press was brilliant against a team playing passing football from the back. Seems that the coaching staff is first class and the lads are prepared for all scenarios.

sorry shmeee....just reading this after posting my own thread on this topic - I thought I was ahead of everyone on this.....I was wrong!

    22nd February Relegation Battle

It's the 22nd February. We're just one win way from relegation being an absolutely impossibility. Including Tranmere winning their next 13 games. This has been a remarkable season - kudos to Robins, his coaching team, the fantastic performances on the pitch and not least our amazing fans who...

I’m pretty certain that Robins sees today’s starting 11 as his strongest team based on recent selections. We’ve never had so much competition for the bench either: Mason, Jones, Hiwula, AB to name a few who are not on today’s bench.

    Great post.

With an assist by Max. At which point I would want to die immediately as life couldn't possibly get any better.

I see what you mean Ben. But I think that's the great thing about our midfield options - all of the players have different attributes. Including Shippers for example who plays the most advanced midfield role very differently compared to the others - often getting ahead of the lone striker...

Everyone is right at the same time on the support for Baka. Most of our fans quite rightfully support Baka on the pitch. But there’s certainly a minority who do not. Last week as he was being subbed a couple of pissed up young lads broke into a chorus of: ‘you’re shit and you know you...

Fantastic photo. Up there with the goal celebration photo at MK in the cup a couple of years back.

Not entirely sure why you are like this and no interest in debating with you to be honest my friend Grendel. Like the majority I am enjoying this season and another fantastic win today. I also appreciate what the players are doing for this club vs. trying to talk down certain players.

    Super Max

It's all about different opinions Evo and I respect your opinion. I just see Max as a striker who has different attributes to others with the ability to be a real game changer. He's proven this before. Just as our midfielders all contribute and pose different questions, Max has the ability to...

    Super Max

It's funny how these debates go around. Earlier this season there was a fairly impassioned debate about how the only important factor in a striker's performance was goals. Now when one of our strikers has a handy scoring record per minutes played - it's not about goals any more. Let's...

    Super Max

Evo, I hear what you are saying. But Max was the key in the second leg at County in my view - we were under intense pressure at 2-1 for around 25 minutes after half time - Max’s second goal to go 3-1 up was the game changer. One of the most important goals in recent years if not the most important.

Agree with that cc84 for the most part. I do think Godden does a lot of work that is unnoticed. Whoever is playing that role - it's the hardest role on the pitch - always outnumbered but always needing to find some space to receive the ball from the midfield three. Or to drag the defenders out...

Absolutely see both sides of this argument. In either formation, I personally would like to see O'Hare on the pitch as long as possible. He's a true 10. I can't ever remember a City team having so many options in formation or a stronger bench. We also have the added 'problem' of bringing...

One of the biggest wins today was Dabo somehow not getting a red. He's so important to us that it would have been a disaster to see him suspended. Probably should have been subbed earlier.

I thought the ground was tight and seemed more hostile than some other places - I agree our support was great though!

That's not altogether fair. I remember quite a few writing Max off.

Exactly Brighton and that's the sign of a team that is going places - controlled football and finding a way to win.
