    The grass was not greener

Such a shame as he was technically so good. As you say 1991, all of the talent but not the application.

    The grass was not greener

I hear that. Not saying the move was a disaster but at Forest but I think Ian's strike rate was around 1 in 3 there vs. closer to 1 in 2 for us. I think he got off to a slow start at Forest as well (but that's just my memory). So from a superstar for us he moved down to being pretty popular...

    The grass was not greener

I certainly see that argument Grendel. Although I do also remember a lot of speculation about McSheffrey's sale before it happened. I truly believe for what it's worth that in a similar situation that Robins and team would have a Plan B and C ready to go and would not rush into additions to...

    Fair points McBean.

    The grass was not greener

Exactly. And this is something in contrast that I really admire about Robins and his team. Totally professional in planning ahead and consistently improving the team through well-judged recruitment. Like every team they don't get all new recruits 100% right but the success rate is very high.

Just a good job that Adams had planned ahead, scouted properly for replacements and spent the cash available from McSheffrey's sale very wisely :emoji_smirk:

    The grass was not greener

I hear what you are saying McBean but not entirely sure on these three. Bright - he's a real talent, young and has plenty of time left to have a very decent career (10 Bags Bayliss called him the best player he'd ever been on a pitch with) McNulty - financially I bet he's done well by leaving...

    The grass was not greener

Ian Wallace. City superstar and all time legend. Never hit the same heights at Forest. No evidence from memory that Ian wanted to move; I guess we needed the cash. I remember he came back to watch a game at HR a few months after he left, hero's welcome in the Main Stand.

City 11 that can't speak English

    Noel Whelan out in Leamington.

City 11 that can't speak English

Deep Pockets Hickman on the basis of the infamous Ibiza video.

City players who used to look a bit like Hitler

David Rennie is a good shout. Now if only he'd been a proper Kaiser in midfield.

    Shagger's XI - Take the p***y

A special mention to Deep Pockets Hickman. Wannabe shagger. Failed the test.

    Shagger's XI - Take the p***y

Michael McIndoe. Champagne, birds, and spending £10,000 a day of other people’s money in Ibiza on that lifestyle.

    Shagger's XI - Take the p***y

Dean Holdsworth had some form. Unfortunately for us it was off the pitch and not on it.

    Shagger's XI - Take the p***y

Peter Ndlovu - Captain, Manager, Legend Patrick Suffo

    Tubby - Lard XI

Alan Brazil - terrible haircut, fat and a complete disaster. He was only 27 when he joined us which is amazing if you look at the photos - that boy had a very heavy paper round. Within a year of leaving us he was leading the strike force at............ Witham Town. Says it all. Sometimes...

    City's nicest haircut X1

If not already mentioned, Andy Blair always looked immaculate. Still does.

    City's nicest haircut X1

That's a good point - but of all the people to make it Jimmy Hillsbeard! It feels like a betrayal hearing you talk like this!

    City's nicest haircut X1

Best manager hair - our legend Jimmy Hill in the 60s. Big Ron's 70s style combover (in the 90s) the worst of several candidates.
