‘If’ we are promoted what do we need to compete in Championship?

Agree with a lot of this. For what it's worth, I always rated Willis for his pace. That being said in the system we play we need players who are very comfortable on the ball; not sure Willis falls into that category. A fully fit Jodi Jones in the right system would be brilliant.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

As I've always said Grendel; if we beat Liverpool in the Champions Cup final 5-0 with our global superstar number 10 also finding a cure for cancer on the flight back, you'd still find something to complain about. How anyone could not have enjoyed the ride over the past 3 years is beyond me...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

That's ok - different opinions. I don't recall much joy for example under the Don Mackay era as we booted the ball into space for 90 minutes - now that was rubbish. The style of play of this team is as good as I have seen in 40 years (we've had brief periods before of playing with style but...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

I hear both sides of this. For me as a supporter for 40+ years, I've actually enjoyed the last 3 seasons more than any other. The revival of the team under Robins has been epic; and the quality and style of play has been brilliant to watch. For me and I know it's different for others; that's...

    Enobkahare Leaves Wolves...

No idea what's happened at Wigan 1991; might be off the field issues or maybe Bright doesn't fit the formation that they are playing. But judging on his first spell with us, I would imagine that Robins would set up a formation that would allow Bright to create absolute havoc if we got him back.

    Enobkahare Leaves Wolves...

I hear what everyone is saying. I guess growing up in the 70s I've always enjoyed the idea of a maverick in the team. I've listened to the podcasts and all the players say that Bright's talent is exceptional and the best player they have ever been on a pitch with. That was also evident from...

    Liam Kelly

I understand he's been playing through an injury for quite a few games this season; always gives everything for the shirt. Shows how much Robins rates him as well (playing through an injury) and sees him as vital in our midfield if you think about the competition for places in centre midfield...

    Hickman

Lads..... I think this is a bit harsh on SkyBlueMichael. I was a strong defender of Hickman at the time as I made many mistakes around his age - and thank God there wasn't any social media to show my mistakes to millions. I certainly didn't think that he should be punished in any way - his...

    87 cup final thread

That's ok Legia. Different opinions. Sillett has said himself that Speedie was very disruptive. It's during an hour long interview on youtube. Point well taken on the injuries to Bennett and McGrath, and we agree on the left back. Letting Pearce go after he made such a big impression after...

    87 cup final thread

I see your point Grendel. But there seemed to be lots of pressure to 'shop at Harrods.' Speedie was a brilliant player but changed the set up of the Cup Final team and never in my view worked well with Regis. And I know Speedie completely disrupted the dressing room. So whilst the...

    87 cup final thread

I see what you are saying Platty. The way I see it is that Houchen was a slow starter with City; who took some time to adjust to the higher level. Once he did adjust he was a key component of the team - not just in goals scored but in terms of how the team was set up. I think in the Cup season...

    87 cup final thread

I was there in the Main Stand for the St. Mirren game and it was all a bit surreal. Low attendance and felt more like a pre-season type game. Talking of the Cup season: One game that should get more of a mention on here (in terms of the best atmosphere at HR; was the opening game of the new...

Players unanimously agree a 25% wage deferral

Bad news for 'deep pockets' Hickman and now '7.5 bags' Bayliss.

    Childhood memories of CCFC

My memories are a little different. Started going with my Grandad in the early 80s; vivid recollections of leaving the game '10 minutes early to avoid the traffic.' Obviously looking back the only intention was to avoid the full on violence outside the ground. Never worked. It seemed that...

Fly on the wall football films/documentaries

Thanks very much for the great recommend Brighton Sky Blue, I watched the Doncaster one over the week-end. The chief exec attending the final game was astonishing and he single handedly initiated a near riot by being there - totally stupid and pointless to be anywhere near the ground. Great...

Fly on the wall football films/documentaries

Agree with all of this better days. The Four Year Plan is amazing tv; and the duplicity of the owners and in particular the chief executive is breathtaking. Briatore was actually ordering subs to be made from the executive boxes - has to be seen to be believed. I watched the Maradona at...

Fly on the wall football films/documentaries

Speaking of Man City Bertola, and apologies to anyone who mentioned it before I watched City! - 1981 documentary on YouTube yesterday. In terms of our City, featuring youngsters Ray Ranson and Dave Bennett. And Malcolm Allison - what a character. Very charismatic even as his team was failing...

I found it on YouTube 'better days'; albeit it's broken into 10 minute segments per episode.
