I agree, I gave the caveat that it's very early in their City careers. However, as well as playing in a makeshift defence that you might expect players not to be fully attuned to each others' games, they were both individually poor.

They're not back-ups, they are signings made to give the squad depth and challenge for regular starts. They played like back-ups, but that is not the same thing. In their defence, it was their first and second league start for us.

Most also said they were less confident when they saw the team sheet. Whether a forced selection or not, most could see that was a team that would not be able to dominate the game.

They're a below average Championship team, as their results and underlying data suggest. A honking performance against them doesn't change that.

That isn't actually true. For most of the second half they sat in and had the odd break. For the last 10 minutes we sat deep and they had a lot of pressure. That doesn't invalidate your general point, though; we were opened up a lot in that first half and were dominated in midfield from the one...

He was brilliant. Just because his teammates weren't doesn't change that.

This is the issue with BTA; he's a good player, but his decision making is often very poor. I'm still not entirely convinced by EMC either.
