Simms was £3.5m + add ons, not 8. Wright was £7.7m Just not sure we needed to spend £2-3m on an average championship striker. Could have been a bit more adventurous in the market.

I said it was a decent signing. Just not sure he has the upside some of our others do, and it won’t be an insignificant fee. But that’s fine if it gets us promoted.

Think it’s a decent signing for where we are but will say that shelling out millions (and presumably decent wages too) on a 25 yo off the back of a fairly average season worried me slightly.

It’s a long season, EMC will start plenty of games even if he’s not first choice from the beginning. Given Wright’s knock he might start vs Stoke anyway. But Wright was arguably our player of the season last year, he’d have to do a lot to be ahead of him in the pecking order.

Obviously last seasons form will play a part since they’ve only been in training a month and played a few friendlies.

A decent striker is a must. Right now we only have 4 proven players across the front 3 (Simms Saka Wright EMC). We need another otherwise 2 injuries means we’re starting one of Obikwu, Tavares or Rapha which isn’t great.

Wright looked crap on the right last season. Can’t see him playing there. Maybe EMC will, but seems odd as he has consistently played on the left for P’boro and in preseason. It’s sakamoto’s spot to lose imo

Not lacking but we need to push if we want to even think about challenging top 2 and it feels like the budget might be there for it. Another top quality CM puts us in a great place. Allen isn’t that good.
