Lack of investment in playing squad

Didn't realise that he had been on trial so I stand corrected. I have made the same point though on several threads that, as you say, Rod was already out of the first team picture before he was sold so there was no pressing need to fill the gap.

    Bayliss off?

Nah where would be the fun in that? :joyful:

That's how football works though. The rumour was Larsen was coming in but it didn't happen for whatever reason.

Lack of investment in playing squad

Rod wouldn't have made the bench as Thompson has been promoted ahead of him. So can't really see how letting him go, for a fee no less, is a mistake?

    Deadline day thread

Agree. Rod was surplus because Thompson was promoted to the first team ahead of him. Really don't understand why people are now complaining about getting a fee for a player who was realistically not even going to make the bench.....

Lack of investment in playing squad

Obviously I am talking about league one/two level. Free transfers or small transfer fees are the norm at this level is the point im making

Lack of investment in playing squad

Most of those were undisclosed fees and Holmes has only moved on loan. I think calling them 'great signings' is overstating it somewhat too. We beat several clubs to the signings of Ogogo and Brown and it looks as though Mason and Allisani are handy as well. Supposedly Sterling chose to come to...

Lack of investment in playing squad

Now who's talking nonsense. We desperately needed a left back and bought in two good players for that position, both on free transfers. We needed to strengthen at centre mid and we bought in Ogogo on a free. At our level, free transfers are the norm for the majority of clubs.

Like who? I've not seen any transfers of any particular note. It's not ridiculous at all. In league one and two far more players move on a free than for a fee.

McNulty came for free. Transfer fees are no indication of quality.

Vincenti gone to Macclesfield on a Free

It's a pity it didn't work out. He was brilliant for Dale, I hope he rediscovers his form.

    Bayliss off?

Very little time to get a replacement on though.

    Bayliss off?

Would assume we would at least know who the interested club is by now if he really was off.

    Bosma goes out on loan

I doubt that, in his interview for the offal he sounded as surprised as anyone that we had signed him. I'm sure I read he was at Lewes on non contract terms and that we didn't pay a fee so it's no loss regardless. If he owned a house down there then moves take time so I still think it's...

    Bosma goes out on loan

I would assume he is moving house etc and this way can keep training/playing for lewes and stay fit

If we sell Bayliss to Chelsea we can probably have him back on loan for the next 4 years then resign him on a free at the end of his contract.......

Conor Chaplin - Signing Confirmed (Finally!)

Maybe a "loan fee" situation like we did with JCH.

Conor Chaplin - Signing Confirmed (Finally!)

Pure guesswork on my part but if Chaplin doesn't sign I wouldn't be surprised to see us bring in another Chelsea loanee instead
