We will obviously pay it. It's like if you travel anywhere for a job interview, the company will (most of the time, anyway) cough up to cover travel costs etc.

    Guardian article on Gillingham match

"Coventry live precariously still after the shambles that followed their grandiose move from Highfield Road in 2005. Tony Mowbray is their eighth manager in that time, discounting five interims. None has had two full seasons." Incorrect - Coleman got 2 full years, and just under half of the...

The money we use to spend

www.echo-news.co.uk/sport/blues/12910956.Southend_United_legend_Freddy_Eastwood_backs_Shrimpers_for_automatic_promotion/ You're right. Seemed like he lost interest towards the end of his career, the end of his Cov career certainly. Sounds like he sacked it off after he got released end of 13/14...

The money we use to spend

Yeah Coleman. Remember him saying at the time he was close to signing him at Fulham but didn't think he was ready. Retired aged 30 last year, quite some fall from grace

    Best Loanee

Jack Cork - single-handedly held the midfield together when Clingan was injured and Gunnarsson was out of form in 09/10

Samuel signs for Gillingham on loan

Fair play, great signing for them. The thing in our favour is that many of our back 6/7 (RCC, Phillips, Stokes, Martin, Fleck) will know his strengths so we can use that to our advantage.

Is our contracted squad a concern

No agreed, I wouldn't either. But I'd like to see fresh 1 year deals given out mid-season to players performing well so that we don’t run the risk of losing them at the end of the season for nothing. We did this with Fleck last year but historically not something we’ve been particularly...

Is our contracted squad a concern

Come end of the season, we will only have 6 senior players on the books: Burge Haynes Vincelot Lameiras Stevenson Maddison Which is even less than we started with this pre-season. That for me is the biggest worry.

Tony Mowbray Mulling over a move for Ben Turner (I feel a '?' Should follow)

Yes I do remember that now you mention it - similar to my anecdote about Magnus Hedman stayed on the pitch when injured at home to Boro. Who was the gaffer, was it Boothroyd?

Tony Mowbray Mulling over a move for Ben Turner (I feel a '?' Should follow)

He was excellent in his last season with us, though he only played 10-15 games before he got injured against Leeds. Popped up with a few goals as well if I remember correctly. He was pretty ordinary in the preceding seasons but should remember that he was the same age as Willis/Phillips are now...

    Barnsley (Home) Match Thread

Feel this could have similar elements as the Blackpool game did – we all thought we’d walk it, they set up not to lose and we struggled to break them down. Granted, they were/are in better form than Barnsley and I think we should have enough to run through them tomorrow night with their...

    vs Swindon Town Player Ratings

Broadly agree. Maybe a smidgeon generous, though it’s more likely my own harsher rating that's the main difference. RCC 7 Phillips 5 Ricketts 7 Martin 7 Stokes 6 Fleck 7 Vincelot 6 Kent 5 Cole 6 O’Brien 7 Armstrong 6 Murphy 7 Lameiras 7 Tudgay 6

    Reda replacement

I actually thought Wood was solid at this level. Left footed centre half, good in the air, goal threat...seems like the ideal replacement to me.

    Magnus Hedman - your memories

I remember a home game (no idea when or who against, I was v young at the time) where my only memory is the crowd turning on Strachan for not taking Hedman off when he was quite clearly injured and struggling to play on. Paul Williams had to take the goal kicks. That is all.

    View from Chesterfield

Agree with the above post, the short paras do make for difficult reading. I think it has the basis of being a solid report. It covers all the key detail, it's accurate - in short, it gives you everything you need. Is is meant to be an opinion piece or...? Constructive criticism I would give is...
