Given that Robins fully expected Hamer to leave last summer, we definitely would have had a plan but not been able to pull it off this year for some reason.

I think what Southgate has said is true but been misunderstood. He doesn't trust his work out of possession when playing through the middle & neither does Pep.
Yeah, he did really well. Missed the end of their season injured, not sure how seriously, but it might be that he's still waiting to get back to fitness before he gets a club.
