I’ve purposely tried to avoid getting back in to this, but to me - tonight - was fully on the players. Unlucky with the goals, yes, but that screamed league 1 match tonight. We need a Roy Keane type captain to come in and rip them all a new one.
Eccles was the only one for me who could hold his head up high.
Rudoni was horrendous.
The worst team I’ve seen come here and we couldn’t do anything. Pitiful. A genuine league 1 match.
Needed that.
Although we’ve sat back (which I don’t like) the players have a notable increase in self belief (ignoring the Dovin one, I agree with what others said about mistakes being inevitable).
I’m sorry but I do not agree at all. Whether you think he’s spent money on tosh, or this model of buying only younger players is wrong - fine.
But Doug thinking he can make a fortune … ??
I’m just depressed.
I really thought we could continue our trajectory up this season, but this feels like the seasons of old. Even the “spark” from the fan base has evaporated.
I’m so torn on whether he should just go all out on what worked early last year, with all of the top players (on paper at least) or to go for a similar setup to last week with a couple of tweaks:
1 DM, 2 AM’s - Sheaf, Torp and Rudoni.
swap Thomas/Lati for Kitching. Thomas is a better player...
They both remind me of dele adebola. Just bumble along which is fine when it works but it never looks like they put 100% in.
Some wonder moments though. That Adebola goal away at Blackburn under Dowie gives me a semi just thinking about it.
thats a lot of words …
this is not knee jerk.
its completely understandable to say “things don’t always get better”. Absolutely. But I would fight tooth and nail to as a bare minimum stay in this league now, and ultimately if that means change manager then I’m sorry but loyalty and the past...
