    Acceptable cheat or not?

There are worse things to call you than old fashioned for that. Some are good, some are shit. Just like the men. Funny that, eh?

    Thomas Asante

Both of the above. One of the many pleasing things about this start has been the number of goals we've had where there's been someone in the right place to batter it in from a few inches. That's coaching, and something we previously didn't;t get enough of.

Quite a few subs and their bloke was down injured for a while. I was expecting it.

Didn't enjoy that second half. Despite the fact that we should have had more goals, we never looked like we had significant control.

Ok half. Not been hugely fluid, but feel we should be further ahead here. They've had some very good fortune in their box. Not sure if we got away with that penalty shout or not.

People singing songs about Starmer today in singers corner and beyond

Pretty sure Sam used to be referred to as 'her' a while ago (definitely during some mascot charity thing that was on telly). Presumably because the person in the suit at the time was a woman. I've always seen Sam as quite gender neutral. I mean, they're a fluffy elephant in a football kit.

    Transfer Rumour Carl Rushworth

All you can say with certainty is they didn't want to sell him for £5.5m, or whatever it was we bid. I'd imagine if we went up, we'd bid significantly more.

Birmingham threw money at it and hoped something stuck. Why I wasn't gnashing my teeth at the close of the window; yes, we could have done with one or two to boost the squad, but I only want us to sign the right players.

    Rangers

All the Welsh clubs in the pyramid have played in it since their inception, though. The Welsh league is comparatively new, and for years all Welsh clubs played in the English league system. I would not want the two big Glasgow clubs in English football; they come with too much baggage.

    David Speedie's New Book

They were genuinely talking about us as title contenders until about Easter. We won an evening game against Arsenal 1-0 in about March that I'm sure put us third. We just fell apart a bit at the end. Probably my favourite season, and the first one where I attended regularly.

    What moment still haunts you?

By the instructions that they had been given, I think the officials probably made the right decision. I think what you describe would be preferable to what we have now, but I am anti tech in football generally; it is a human game, and I can accept errors from officials. When the same officials...

Don't think so. That was in a home game, and then Killer missed a penalty against his tiny, outfield replacement.

What happened to David Smith? He was such a tricky, skilful player when he broke through.

    What moment still haunts you?

This is it, isn't it. If you have to bring it down to studying millimetres between imaginary lines on the ground, then the things that you are looking for don't matter. No advantage has been gained. Football is worse for doing this. It puts me in mind of zealous letting agencies; you leave a...

    What moment still haunts you?

He was terrible. I'll never forget that game at Barnsley where our forward line consisted of him and Kyle Lightbourne. If there was a 'games that really annoyed you and still rankle decades later' thread, that would be right in there.

    What moment still haunts you?

Ballard goal was an absolute sickener at the time, but I didn't think we were good enough over the season for promotion, so I got over it reasonably quickly and don't dwell on it now. I was more annoyed that we lost our unbeaten streak in home games against Sunderland than anything else.
