    Villa

Mixed views on Villa: some historical rivalry tempered by family history. Great grandfather moved from Aston to cov in 1910s and reportedly used to walk back to visit his mum and watch the game. Cant fault that dedication to his club. So in his memory ‘Well done Villa’.

Match Thread Leeds United - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 28th Sep

As bad as this is we are only one down. Cmon Robins get them playing. At least show something second half…a bit of heart, a bit of fight and a lot of commitment.

    Things that annoy you

Echo this. I am now of an age where I no longer pay for prescriptions but when I did I was always the only one who had to dip my hand in my pocket. Not exclusively but mainly those who required methadone waltzed in and got their freebie. Even those who were on benefits had to wait ‘patiently’...

Absolutely …we switched off and they had the quality to capitalise and punish us

Match Thread Coventry City - Tottenham Hotspur [LC] Match Thread - Wednesday 18th Sep

Thoroughly enjoyed the game and the performance but obviously not the result. We were the better team for large parts of the game but for whatever reason switched off / tiredness/ misplaced passes and hesitation at the crucial moments.

Thought he should have lifted it. Their player already committed and sliding on ground.

    Spurs player ratings

Happy with 90% of that game. All players worked extremely hard. If there was a disappointment it was Milan’s defensive positioning at times; ball watching and loses man. Apart from last few mins can’t fault the players all 7s with Bidwell, Rudoni (8) Wilson 8 also but crucial hesitation for...

Absolutely. A good point. Was fearing the worst today but hopefully this kickstarts the season. Better performance and lots of chances.

    The no loans strategy

Considering their back line one of the slowest I was surprised how rarely we tested them on the turn. Wright skinned the right back two or three times early on and that was it.

    the issues

Worries for me: 1) appears to be no overall strategy. How were we meant to play? Not sure the players knew what was expected of them. Are the coaches up to it. Certainly gone backwards since Lawrence and viveash gone. 2) when it wasn’t working we had no idea how to change it 3) 1-0 down at home...

Match Thread Coventry City - Norwich City Match Thread - Saturday 31st Aug

Norwich didn’t have to get out of second gear throughout the game. Gave them too much space in the middle of the pitch and rarely closed them down. Both Simms and later Bassette made decent runs but we didn’t try and find them quick enough. Considering we were 1 down for most the second half we...

Match Thread Coventry City - Norwich City Match Thread - Saturday 31st Aug

Spot on. Not able to break up play in midfield and allowing Norwich all the space. And when we have the ball not springing quick ball forward against a fairly slow back line. Simms making runs but brave enough to feed it through to him.

    Summer transfer window 2024

If sheaf not recovered fully from injury then cover for him has to be a priority. Someone who can step in immediately

    Palmer leaving

Bit surprised; a very frustrating player but also can be very exciting. Contributed positively in both Bristol games and always gets himself involved. Sometimes I think his brain sees moves that he just can’t pull off. Good luck to him

Match Thread Bristol City (A) 24th August 12:30 KO

Agree. That’s the problem in the championship for a lot of clubs. Don’t get promoted, lose better players, buy replacements (odd gem, odd dud), develop them for couple seasons , don’t get promoted…rinse and repeat. And hope you eventually get lucky.

    Bristol Player Ratings

I think both praise and criticism are justified. Praise for shot-stopping and playing ball with feet. But a certain amount of criticism for his work in the air. Bristol quickly cottoned on to his tendency to flap/punch and put in majority of corners, and some crosses from the wing, on top of...

Not good enough all over. Wright doing well but Eccles, Torp, Rudoni not in the game. Defence fragile and allowing Armstrong to bully us. Not convinced by dovin either.
