15.5 miles at around 7:20/mile pace yesterday. Out from Bedworth, up Black Horse Rd and onto the Canal at The Greyhound. Steady down the canal, dodging Rats, Pigeons and Squirrels, saw me at the canal basin in 55mins. Through the centre, out past the station, down Spencer Ave into Earlsdon...

    Rocking all over the world

Yes it has improved massively..... but its still an identikit out-of-town stadium... If i was an away fan coming to Coventry, the one plus point would be the generally large allocation.... i'm not personally a fan of stadiums out-of-town. Its strange, i realised that i've now supported...

    Women's World Cup 2023

This is the issue for me. Will there ever be a time when the England team/manager gets an absolute panning in the media for a poor performance/result, as the men's team does. That would be a positive sign the game has developed in line with the men's..... but i don't see it ever reaching that...

Back to proper training last night. A track session on a very warm evening, 26deg as the session started. 10 x 300mtrs, with 100mtrs jog recoveries. My target set by the coach was 53secs, which i've (just about) managed earlier in the summer, although not quite being 100% recovered from...

    Running

You would not.... you do get prepared for unseasonable weather when racing on the fells.... but as mid-summer races go, it was a poor one for weather!

    Running

Raced in the English Fell Champs yesterday, in Weardale, Co Durham. A straight out thrash from the village up to the summit of the nearest mountain and back down. Although it wasn't quite as simple as it sounds... the weather was absolutely rancid all weekend, so along with absolutely zero...

    Running

I raced on the fells in South Wales on saturday. Weather forecast was shocking, 60-70mph winds, zero visibility, etc. In the event, whilst it was most unpleasant, very strong wind, heavy rain and hailstorms, it probably wasn't as bad as forecast. I thought i had a very good chance of winning...

    Running

I spectated the Northbrook 10km this morning. Was on Wall Hill Road about 2.5km in, and then back near the finish a short while later. Adrian from Northbrook (who i know well) set a cracking pace early on and had about 50 metres lead when i first saw him... but there was a solid group of...

    Transfer Rumour Ellis Simms

I've always been one for singing for the team/club. But hero-worshipping individual players has never been one for me. They come and go.

I can't really get behind singing about individual players.... never have, never will. Nothing against those that do.... but it isn't for me.

Track session with Godiva last night. 3 x (1km, 200mtr jog, 200mtrs) Target for the km's was 3:15, and for the 200mtrs was 33secs. Having never ran quicker than 3:18 before on a km rep, i was somewhat sceptical that i could hit these targets, but gave it my best shot.... km's 3:18 3:19 3:21...

    Coventry Telegraph Reporting

This is very true. I have a close relative who has recently left the company. They are very good on a personal level, but the overseeing group (Mirror) slice the budget almost yearly, there aren't enough staff and those there are, are massively overworked, constant threat of redundancy, *all...

    Running

Training with Godiva last night, and our group was on the grass doing 5 x 90secs, followed by 5 x 60mtr sprints. Quite enjoy these speedwork sessions on the grass, a chance to work hard, but away from the "pressure" of being timed on the track for every rep. I did however sneak a look at my...

    Running

I raced a couple of weeks ago at the Holyhead Mountain fell race on Anglesey. Was a bit of a tester to see where my fitness is at the moment.... after running the inter-counties and tearing my calf, then running the English Champs the following weekend with said torn calf.... i then obviously...

    Saudi Arabian League

On one hand, it does go against the very grain to see somewhere like Saudi Arabia trying to buy their way into acceptable society via sport... On the other hand.... The Premier League and UEFA have let big money and big clubs dictate the game for years... if they get outgunned by a region...

    Running

Sphinx have some good runners, and if they turned out for the club regularly in the Cross Country league, road relays, etc, they could punch far higher than their usual level.... but for whatever reason they don't seem to get their best runners out regularly.... Although that's the perennial...
