    Netflix

House of Cards has got to be one of the best things I have ever watched on TV. Kevin Spacey steals just about every scene he is in. Could not stop watching it. Started watchin Sons of Anarchy but the plot lines got sillier and sillier as it went along to the point that it lost credability...

    Am I in the wrong

Have done shifts myself many years ago and it nearly killed me. The only thing that kept me sane was the ability to go out and sink a couple of pints when the occasional opportunity arose. Initially the wife didnt get it, thought I was being a miserable git, but explained that just a couple of...

    Shops that are gone

They used to have their own pubs as well. The Attleborough Arms in Nuneaton and the Market Tavern in Bedworth were both Davenports pubs.

    Shops that are gone

Even remeber that as he sung the song the words appeared on the screen with a little pointer to the words so you could sing along. "Beer at home means Davenports!!"

    Shops that are gone

Remeber it well. My Granny used to have a crate of Davenports every week. Still got one of the pld wooden crates in the shed. Reckon the old bloke who used to say "cheers" at the end of the advert was Mr Davenport himself............well according to my Granny it was!!

    The EU referendum

For what its worth I also work in the NHS and have done so for the past twenty years. There are many people working in the NHS who have come from abroad, but there are also many many NHS workers from the UK. Its a topic of conversation that has cropped up many times at work and I can in all...

    The EU referendum

I do not understand why they would percieve an 'out' vote as xenophobic and therefore want to leave. For all you know they may very well share the same views and be glad to live in a country that is not goverened in the same way the rest of of Europe is.

    The EU referendum

Was not aware of that in all honesty. As a teenager at the time I remember all the propoganda which seemed to revolve around 'join up or all the other European nations will make it very difficult for the UK'.

    The EU referendum

When we joind the EEC as it was then called, it was described as a 'European Club'. Since then it has almost always been desctibed as a 'European Project'. Very subtle change of description but nontheless very important. When you join a club, you look at the set of rules that you are agreeing...

    Just rewatched Goodfellas

Two scenes in Good Fellas stick out in my memory. First one is where he confronts the guy who messed with his girlfriend and busts his skull with the but of a handgun. The second is where he and his girlfriend get out of his car and go into a swanky restaurant through the back door and right...

    Bal Bains - RIP

I think this is the same guy I used to see now and again in The Royal Oak in Earlsdon. Seemed to recognize his picture. Never spoke to him but he always spoke enthusiastically about cricket. Seemed a really nice bloke. RIP.

Bit early but where in the world are we holidaying this year

Well folks, as I type this I am sitting in a beer garden in Melbourne Australia, blowing the froth a few cold ones. Apart from Highfield Road on winters night for a mid week game I cannot in all honesty think of anywhere else I would prefer to be.

Do You Need To Go The Gym ?

Hate to say it, but it was the wifes idea. Never thought I would be motivated enough to do it at home but its been working well for a couple of years now.

Do You Need To Go The Gym ?

Used various gyms over the years but got pissed off by all of them mainly due to the people who use them. Groups of lads who would take over a bench or a piece of equipment and not want to share it used to wind me up. Then there was always the New Year rush when the place would be mobbed and...
