    The pitch

Pitch was playable for both sides. No way did the pitch influence the result. Both sides played passing football. Both keepers made good saves. Burton just created slightly better chances and took them.

    Murphy

Sorry to repeat some of what I posted on another thread...but Murphy offered no movement off the ball in the first half. Stokes gave the ball away at least three times as he had to try and thread difficult balls to Murphy's feet because he gave no movement. He fought more after half time...

    Wrong team choices today !

I thought Murphy offered very little today, next to no movement off the ball in the first half. Stokes gave the ball away at least three times as he had to resort to trying to thread difficult balls through to his feet. All our best moves were down our right in the first half. Came to life...

Came on and showed a bit of nous and guile which gave Armstrong a bit more freedom.

Mogga got the tactics wrong today

I think you are under estimating the ability of Walsall and Burton in fairness. Burton matched us man for man today. We didn't play badly but they were the stronger side.

    Burton

Burton are a very well organised side and keep their shape behind the ball often forcing us to pass backwards. They pass the ball well and know when to just hoof it. Always looked dangerous from corners and looked like they can defend them all day long. Keeper looks solid. Not much in it...

    Singers corner

Have the Fan Police published the official song sheet yet? I have told the wife she has to wear something Sky Blue or risk getting lynched. For some reason she just replied "knickers"

correct the system has worked well most of the time. It just needs a couple of tweaks and a plan B for the odd day it doesn't. I have never understood this fixation with 442 some of our fans have.

Not necessarily, Nottingham Forest used to play with two wingers who would get to the bye-line, but rarely would they stand the ball up for headers. They often passed the ball back towards the penalty spot for the forwards and the midfielders running into the box. I don't think 442 would be...

This is why Armstrong struggles in some games. It is not that he isn't playing well it is just he gets isolated and we don't get players in the box to support him. I sometimes think we need the option of two up top, just to make teams 're think their tactics.

Or Haynes dropped and Hunt at LB. However I think the back four may stay the same. Stokes if fit enough to play potentially has less running to do at CB. TM always rotates the attacking midfield. Maddison in for Cole and maybe Lamieras in for JOB. I think it is too soon for a full 90 from...

have we got the upper hand

If he still has juice in the tank he is a great utility player who possesses great attacking and defensive awareness. He could be played FB, LM, CM or at a push as a forward. Has experience and leadership qualities. Potentially a great signing. Just depends on his legs.

Fans having been moaning about the vulnerability of Phillips and Haynes. But when you consider they now are probably 3rd choice fullback it shows the strength and depth that is being developed in the squad.

have we got the upper hand

There is a big difference physically between 18 and 22. As Shmmeee said is it also about managing stamina? When to close down, push on, when to try and chase down? Plus there is the nervous energy. The game is far more athletic compared to the 1970's (not relatively more skilful). RCC...

    Joe Cole

I wonder if you have ever been to two away games in a row? Personally I never criticise people for what games they do or don't go to. But when they are there, I do think the more the merrier!

I find that very sad. They are a club of tradition, the money required in football to try and compete is scandelous.

Fair few tickets left in two blocks before going behind goal. Cannot see it being 20k. More like 17k

Looking forward to the game. I expect it to be tight and tense. I think Burton are a good side and not top by fluke.
