I agree with your thinking but I guarantee that if the club had taken that approach a lot on here would be complaining and we would have heard... lacking ambition, should have bought better proven players, where has the rest of the money gone? still shopping at Aldi when we can afford...

I think we are realising that with Gus and Vic's significant contributions, the actual set up of the team was not so critical

Of course he blames individual errors. Rightly or wrongly that deflect from criticism of the set up, selection or any other manager related issues.

Agreed but we had players who could do it and knew when to do it

A quick passing game is not tippy tappy, and is my preferred style, although knowing when to play the quick long ball is an art that we seem to lack, or are afraid to play. Our problem is a lack of vision which leads to a build up / transition which is too slow

Tippy tappy against Watford cost us a goal. We were trying to pass through a constipated midfield when there was always space down the wings . The Watford defence was flaky

The biggest mistake was trying to pass through their midfield. When we went round or over them their defence was very flaky. It's all very well passing out from the back but there are times when you have togo round or over.

.....or they can't find anyone who is worth the fee demanded .... or there is someone incoming but we don't know about it ... or the players that were identified aren't available .. or you're just determined to be pessimistic
