    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

Not sure there would be a great deal to gain by getting everyone back in for a couple of weeks before the summer holiday. Just checked the schools local to me and they all seem to be saying they can't take all pupils back while maintaining social distancing. So its either continuing to act...

Not sure I'd take much comfort in that if I'd lost months with a parent / grandparent due to the governments incompetence.

Lets assume that to be the case what do you believe has caused the additional 55K non-covid excess deaths?

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Might just be Championship so nobody can doubt the teams coming up.

    New Shirt(s) 2020-21

Agreed. The one they did a few years ago was a bit of a misfire. Nice idea but didn't really work for me.

What are you currently listening to?

Didn't we used to have a gigs thread? Can't find it now. Increasingly thinking I wouldn't be going to another gig this year. Gigs that were postponed in April / May and moved to later in the year are now being cancelled completely. I've got nothing in the diary until November now. NEC have...

If you became rich beyond your wildest dreams......

Are you keen on not being rich for very long? If we're talking ridiculously rich I'd sort a ground out and make sure it was owned by the fans somehow so a future owner couldn't screw us over but wouldn't really want to be the owner. Too much of a headache. Might get involved with the Blaze...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Seems to not reply when she doesn't have an answer. Kept referring to EFL regulations that I couldn't find any record of, others have had the same issue, anyone who asked for details of the regulations was ignored.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Just had a quick look at the league one tables at the end of March for a few seasons prior to the ones Tranmere have decided to use in their calculations and surprisingly enough it seems that the last three years seem to be rather exception in terms of teams making late runs to avoid relegation...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

How have you got that number? The data Tranmere posted on their website for PPG has you finishing on 41 points and Wimbledon one place above you on 44. Problem is there's multiple 'reasonable' scenarios, how reasonable seems to depend on which team you support. Simplicity is the key here. As I...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Great news about the Nissan plant in Sunderland, obviously not so good for Barcelona. Hopefully its all above board and isn't reliant on the government promising to cover the cost of any negative impact due to Brexit. Nissan was offered secret state aid to cope with Brexit, minister concedes

Hard to use that as a defence when you've spent days insisting there was no breach at all.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

The EFL have already put forward the proposal to be voted on having had multiple meetings to discuss alternatives. 13.3.3 states the league is under no obligation to include any resolution proposed by a member club to change the regulations.

    Maitlis

Seen a couple of journalists for other papers / channels flag this up. From what I have read seems the BBCs own procedures for handling complaints got completely thrown out of the window.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Yes, its a vote to change the regulations to allow PPG first which just needs a majority across all 3 divisions. Then if that passes each division can vote on if they want to end the season now or not, assume the vote in L2 still stands so they've already decided to finish.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

What happens if the additional financial pressures on clubs due to their plan causes other clubs to collapse? Won't less teams have a bigger impact on their finances than a season in L2 rather than L1? The Huddersfield chairman was suggesting 50 to 60 clubs could be in trouble. They should at...

Hancock definitely hasn't been sent to do the media rounds 'launching' a track and trace system that isn't ready that staff weren't told out until last night and can't logon to as a distraction from Cummings.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

I'd want our owners to fight our corner but there's a point where you have to just accept your fate. Coming up with weird mathematical formulas, hugely extending playoffs and changing the number of teams in the divisions just to try and avoid relegation would I think be a step too far for most...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

It has been, put in either of those scenarios its likely Tranmere will be relegated so he's decided to propose an alternative where miraculously they don't go down. The EFL regulations state there is no requirement for clubs to get a vote on any proposal put forward by a member club so the...
